How to find road restrictions

Does anyone know how I can find info on any restrictions on roads (New Mexico, Colorado, South Dakota)? I am planning a trip to the Rockies around Memorial Day and don't want to plan a route that my truck and 28' TT are not allowed to take. I had planned on taking HWY82 from Aspen to Twin Lakes, but, lucked-out and found info that there is a 35' max length (truck & trailer) restriction through Independence Pass. I'm trying to avoid any other routes that I may not know of. Thanks.

Check the state DOT sites for bridge restrictions and such. If really in doubt about a specific location use Google Maps street view - you can "drive" right up to a bridge or tunnel and read the signs.

DOT websites for a start. I also use the RV Parks & Campground app for low bridge clearances.

If you are a Good Sam member you may try the "trip planner". I know it will warn of low clearances, don't know about length restrictions.

There are books/maps called the Mountain Directory that are designed for Truckers and RV Rigs. The guides note steep grades, tight turns, low clearance areas and more. There is one for the east and one for west. Find out more at Mountain Directory for Truckers, RV, and Motorhome Drivers

I am about to trade in my old Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS for a new Garmin RV 660LMT model that we will use for a big trip from Florida to Yellowstone and Glacier this summer. I expect it will be another line of defense against low bridges, steep grades and tight turns.
