Where is Junior from Swamp People when you need him?

Needless to say we did not get to do any night fishing as we were sure the Gators would have cleaned anything off of our lines that we might have hooked, never would have been able to reel them in fast enough.

This is Huntsville State Park in Texas.

The lake has a swimming area but I will not get into it. There were actually people wade fishing about 30 yards from this spot before the sun went down in knee deep water. My concern is that the Gators do not know where the swimming area starts and there buffet area ends!

This was a small Gator I saw a 15footer heading out into the lake when we walked up to the "Fishing Pier" or Gator Buffet line, take your choice!

i don't think they would bother u. i had a small one show up in my pond in 2004. it was very curious. that doesn't mean i'm going to wade off in there and find out for sure.
danielflading, have u ever done the (air boat) swamp tour in Orange, Tx? it's pricey but very informative.

I used to live in Florida and have seen my share of Gators along Alligator Ally, most just swim away, This one was to curious and obviously has been feed by people. He was just hanging at the peir and chasing everyline thrown in, then he would swim back to the peir as to look for more handouts. He knew where the food was.

I've lived in Florida over 30 years and camped (tent & popup) during that time. Woke up in Juniper Springs Campground (outside of Ocala) to the "hiss" of a 12' gator outside the tent door. The Juniper Springs waterhole was next to our site and the gator must have smelled fresh meat (we showered before going to bed). Camp near freshwater in Florida and gators are possible visitors. Always had more of a threat from "noisy neighbors" than "growling gators".

I wouldn't need an alarm clock because I would not have fallen asleep. That last photo is eery with the motion streaks. Gators are living fossils. Dinosaurs that didn't die out.

they can move very fast in and out of water!

they can also go under without making a ripple.
i tried to sneak up on the one here but never could. i would go to the other side of the pond and he would be at his normal hang out looking at me.

I've posted this before, but worth posting again! You've got to really watch out for those gators.
