I-20 to RT 59 in TX ???

We are avoiding I-95 in SC as it is bad and are heading across I-20 from off I-95 in Florence SC and wish to pick up RT 59 off I-20 in Marshall TX and take RT 59 down to I-10

Anyone know what condition RT59 is in I think last time we did that some years ago it was terrible?

Can't tell you about 59 but I-20 thru Bossier City/Shreveport will beat you up pretty good. Your couch in your trailer will probably not be in the same place you left it when you go thru that section. Your cabinet doors will also need to be secured too.

Also, here in my hometown of West Monroe/Monroe, they are currently working on the elevated portions of I-20 westbound at nights starting at 7 PM. Expect some delays if you come thru after that as traffic can get backed up aways being it's one lane. I speak from much experience here.

Unless something horrible has happened to I-95 in SC over the past couple of months, it's not really a bad road. Drug our CC 38FL thru there with no problems on our way to Florida.....

Don't know about 20 east of Marshall, been too long since I've been there. But in general, 20 has improved much over the years. We've done the 59 route a number of times, and really just south of Marshall was the worst of it. There is construction on the Grand Parkway (right next to where we live about 35 miles north of Houston), and they close the freeway completely some weekends (sometimes they warn, sometimes they don't). And almost every night there are varying lane closures, but that doesn't start until 8pm usually. Otherwise we have no problems with 59.

We have done 20 east of Tyler which was good and only done 59 from Nacogdoches south. You could take 20 to Tyler then cut over to 45 then catch beltway in Houston to 10. I prefer the beltway if I am coming or leaving Houston.

I-20 Highway 59 Texas

Neither is really very bad. Compared to Oklahoma roads they're both silky smooth..

Agree with wmtire about Shreveport. Don't think I ever cussed as much even thru Little Rock! We usually take 79 down to Rockdale and hit 77 south and on down to Schulenburg. You can hit 10 there. Just don't be in a super hurry as you will go through small towns. Lotsa good eatin places! Best of all it misses Houston.
Was through there late august and very little construction. What was there was well maintained and very little delay. Some 2 lane and some 4 lane. Like I said take your time and enjoy it.

The fastest way (despite what it looks like on a map) is to take I-49 south to I-10. Straight sailing, only one city to go through (Alexandria) and that is an elevated stretch. Just don't speed through Natchitoches in the northern section or Washington or Grand Coteau at the end near I-10. Other than that, great highway.

Are you wanting to go to Houston or through it? Wanting to go to/ through Lake Charles? If no to both then stay on I-20 till I-49 like mheintz2 suggested.

We take 59 South off of I-20 often, but we get off at Nacogdouches to head towards Aggie Land!

I travel SH 59, IH 69 some time in the future, from were it starts in Laredo, TX to were
it hits IH 20 near the TX AK border and I find it good road. If you can stop at the Escapees RV Park in Livingston, TX. Good
