IH-West of Louisiana

There is construction from the Texas state line to Beaumont.

A word of caution when traveling this route. Construction on IH-10 from Orange for several miles and traffic is heavy most of the time. There is also construction at the Neches river bridge between Orange and Beaumont. Construction causes heavy traffic to slow down between 8:00 A,M, for several hours and again around 4:00 P,M, until about 7. I used to exit at the Fling J west of Orange and head south on 73/62 all the way to Winnie. Now there is construction on the bridge between Bridge City and Port Arthur and will continue for 2 years to repaint with one lane closed. This bridge is 179 feet tall.

Be careful, go slow and have a good trip.

Hi, thanks for the info. Heading to Orange next month to visit MIL and SIL's for a month. I'm familiar with the area but it's nice to know about the bridge construction headaches.

Jim-There is another thread running now and asking about the roads in Louisiana. I started to post my info. there butt did not want to hijack that there.

So you have family on Orange? Small world, I live in Little Cypress just north of the I-10. If interested you could contact me and we could do lunch. We like Luigi's restaurant for good Italian food.

Yes, it is a small world. My mil lives off of Meeks and my sil is Dr. Kennedy, the vet at Pachar Vet Clinic over on West Park. Luigi's works for us as well. I'll try and contact you when we get there next month. We spend close to a month in Orange, gets us out of the Michigan snow for awhile. Thanks so much for the lunch invite...

Pachar family have been vets forever.

Meeks ends at MLK 4-way stop and becomes 1006. I live 1 mile north of the Meeks/MLK stop sign.

That's so cool. My mil lives just south of allie payne. We do a lot of walking at Northway Park when we're in town. Can't wait to be able to walk outside for a change. The high here today was 10 degrees. Take care!

Excuse my ignorance but what does the H stand for in IH-10?

Not really...I have seen it used for years here in Texas ( i am on my phone and can't see your location) but I don't think it is an official designation

The Interstate Highway system is technically IH as opposed to US highways. Mostly you see just the I designation.
