Nothing special for us. Scott County Park till Tuesday.

But it is better than not camping at all!

Sorry for the stupid question....but how do you guys fill your TT tires? With a compressor (how big of a compressor is necessary)? Or do you take it somewhere to fill them?

I'll be headed to Iowa next week, for two weeks, for a family reunion. Camping at a county park in central Iowa, NW of Ames 30 miles, more specifically, Don Williams County Park. Packing up this weekend, and hitting the road!

Anyone have suggestions relatively close to Ames? The oldest is heading off to ISU in a few weeks and was thinking about potentially combining camping trip/visit the kiddo in the years ahead. Thanks!

Oh, and on another note I might need to start branching out more. My usual Pinicon Ridge stomping grounds seems to be full by mid-week anymore (at least the decent spots)...it is getting expensive to be up there on Tuesday just to get a good spot.

Someone a few posts up mentioned Don Williams County Park.

Yeah I want to camp at Flying Squirrel more but I can't do the Tuesday/Wednesday spot reservation. I hope they go online eventually. I just booked for Sugar Bottom this weekend. Usually here in CR I can go to Morgan Creek Thursday after work and get a spot.

I do too but from a financial perspective I am almost surprised any place takes reservations. Can you imagine how much money Pinicon makes with all those extra days of people just tossing a tent on a spot to reserve it? If you want a good spot you are going to spend 100 bucks...kinda crazy.

Obviously it would be far better for the campers themselves if it was online but I have to think the park would take a huge hit in revenue.

When the campground is as nice as this one they will probably never go online for reservations. People are willing to pay the extra to camp there. I can't blame them so if I want to camp up there I'll have to either make time to run up there and put a tent down or find a friend....hint hint

I will be at Sugar Bottom starting tonight. I'm hoping the rain didn't shut down the mountain bike trails.
