I'll be winterizing this weekend, only because I won't be able to get out again until mid-November. Done camper camping for the year, but our main CG has cabins right on the pond they rent as well. Ice sports are in the future!

Done here too. Now we have to use a hard shell ground mount or move it 800 miles south.

Made our last voyage out for season this weekend to Honey Creek State Park at Rathbun Lake. Didn't get a pic of the sight but now back home and unpacking our 292BHDS for the long winter ahead. Next week will be flushing and clearing the water lines and buttoning it up for storage

Hey fellow Iowans - what is your rule of thumb for de-winterizing at the beginning of the season. The family is itching to camp!

You mean as to when to go? If the weather allows us to camp we camp. We like it to be at least 40 at night to go. It's easy enough to rewinterize if need be. By spring just blowing out the lines with air and draining the hwh would suffice for us.
A few years ago we went to a scheduled outing and of course it dropped down the upper 20's. That's because we planned it. That's my story. We didn't have any issues though. I left the kitchen cabinet door open to allow warmer air in there. You need a real long hard freeze with water in the lines to really be concerned imho.

Thanks Toby- that's when kind of info I was looking for. With 2 young kids I was trying to figure where that temp threshold was to start going.

What about de-winterizing the camper? You know how Iowa weather can be. Nice stretches of 50-60 degree weather, but drop below freezing over night. This is our first camper and first spring. Just wondering thoughts on that?

Only thing I'd do is disconnect fresh water hose at night and drain it...

For you, W, that's when the temp drops to 60 deg.

Dropping below freezing for a few hours doesn't cause me much concern. I just make sure nothing is under pressure. A sustained hard freeze would be my concern. If I'm dewinterized I might hook the air hose and drain all the water from the lines and tanks if not in use. That'd be about it. Now if I'm camping and it drops below zero I'd turn off the pump or the water supply, open the kitchen cabinet and sit by the fire as long as I could. That's just me. Others might have varying opinions.

Usually when it's pretty steady 40's during the day I'll get it out and start prepping for the season. I took it to Ledges the middle of March last year. What a great day that was in the high 60's. If it looks like the low's are going to be near 30 I'll de-winterize it, and run the heat for a week or so if I have to before filling propane for the season.
I'm hoping mid March this year again.
