Please take time to post a positive or <negative> review for ALL campgrounds you either loved or hated on this website. We use our Good Sam Campground book as well as our KOA Campground book but this website really gets our vote because it's reviews and scores from users. IT'S THE BEST!

Just a friendly heads up on a campground.

It was mentioned in the opening statement. It's American resort and campground in the dells. Just so we are all clear on this so nobody gets in trouble for some reason this is only the campground part I am talking about. There is a hotel that is also there. I am just giving a heads up on what I experienced at the campground. I'm not saying to stay away from it. I'm just saying my experience was poor and would not recommend it. Mainly this is just a heads up to those that may consider this place.

We usually stay at the Jellystone in the Dells when we go out that way. Aside from it being a little on the pricey side, its main downfall is its position relative to the interstate. You can hear road noise through out the park, all night long. The kids enjoy it though.
We recently stayed at the Jellystone Eureka just outside of St. Louis and had a site much like yours. When we deployed our slide and third bunk it was directly over the fire ring to the site to the right of us. We had to move the camper way over, which put our fire ring under our awning and about a foot and a half from the side of the camper which made it unusable. We were there with some friends in a pop-up to the site to the left of us. Their site was more or less the same size as ours. We couldn't put the awning all the way out without hitting his pop-up. We ended up sharing the fire ring on his site our entire stay. Luckily he had a much smaller camper that made the site more usable.

That is one downfall of the jellystone yogi is how close to the interstate it is but it beats some of the other sites that are on top of the train tracks and you get the 2 A.M. Whistle alarm lol. And the price is high but you do get a lot there for the kids to do.

Sherwood Forest Campground for what it's worth is ok. Great location and decent sites. I would request to stay on the lower level since it's closer to stuff.

Was at the Dells last year on return trip from Mt Rushmore and stayed at the KOA. Real nice campground and close to town.

We stayed at the Dells KOA this past weekend for 5 days (Wed-Mon).
The folks that work here are really nice and they even escort you to your site and assist with back in. However (i'll write a full review later), they should warn you about their proximity to the train tracks. I've never heard so many trains every single day and not to mention we were on the furthest site from the tracks and it still shook our 5vr every time it passed. Also, these sites were the tightest i've ever experienced in Wisconsin.
I must say i was surprised to read the reviews about the Dells Jellystone, assuming your talking about the one behind the Outlet mall. Just from passing by on our way to Mirror Lake for kayaking, it looked like they packed people in like sardines!
The Mirror Lake state campground looked massive and well spaced. If we do the dells again we will definitely try to stay there.

I guess you haven't been camping very long! The rule for CGs are, either re, interstate, airport or any combination of any of the above. Hit the Jack pot one time and got all three. Side Benny, river boats and quiet horns![emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

All the Jellystones, they pack you in like sardines. The one at the Dells isn't nearly as bad as some others we've stayed at. Driving by, you are probably seeing the economy area, which is really tight. The main park isn't too bad, but we tend to go late season right before the waterparks shut down for the summer when its not so hot, and the park is quieter.

It's been a while since I've been to mirror lake but from what I remember the sites are spaced well and it is a nice state park. Most of the state parks in Wisconsin are not bad to camp at just some fill up real fast.
As far as the KOA it is on top of the tracks. We were going to stay there but during my research of sites I did a google earth shot and got to see how close it really is to the tracks. A little to close for me so we stayed at jellystone instead. I can deal with car noise not the trains every hour or so through the whole night.

Yes - please do! Many campgrounds/rv parks I've seen don't have websites, and if they do, they are not very good. Feedback and information from people who have actually stayed there really helps others decide. I've found the RV parks site to be an excellent resource.

I grew up camping only at Jellystones and have great memories of them. Best one i've ever stayed at was a few years ago in Warrens WI. Biggest and best one i've ever been to. The one i went to the most as a kid was Sturgeon Bay, however they haven't put a dime back into their park which is unfortunate. The one in Fremont WI is still pretty decent, however they've really started packing in the sites and are big on the cabins now.

Yeah, the WI state park reservation system is really nice and detailed (love when they have the photos of the sites). However the $9+ service fee is ridiculous. And if you don't book early in the year, good luck finding a site anytime the rest of the year unless you risk doing a walk-up the day of.

Yeah the reservation fee for wi state park sucks and yes unless you book 1 year out you won't get electric. We went uo to heartman creek pre reservation time frame and if the father in law hadn't gone over early in the morning we wouldn't have had electric
