Kansas City

Traveling south into Kansas City on I-29 to get to I-70 east... easy or hard? How about east bound on I-70 at St. Louis area to I-64 east

What time of day? If you are not stopping in Kansas City, I would come 29 south to 435 east near the airport. 435 will get rather remote for awhile with very little traffic. 435 will intersect I-70 right at the Royals/Chiefs stadiums. Once you get east of town on I-70 around mile marker 25--clear sailing to St. Louis.

Don/t know what time we'll be there, as at this point don't know where we'll be laying over the night before...going to the Nashville rally....and have always found it was better to ask a local about loops around headache traffic areas. Thanks alot !

There is a nice state park right off I-70 about 60-90 minutes west of St. Louis. Graham Cave State Park. We have also camped south of Mt. Vernon at Rend Lake right of I-57. All depends where you are when you want to stop.

I used to live in Atlanta and drove KC to Atlanta all the time. 70 to 64 to 57 to 24 will take you right into Nashville. All Interstate--mostly good road (don't know about construction) so it should be a great trip.

We have a lot of construction in downtown St. Louis at the moment. If it were me driving from K.C., I'd take 70 all the way in and take the new "Stan Musial" bridge (the new I-70 bridge across the Mississippi) into Illinois. Stay to the right and watch the signs for I-64 East to Louisville. The new bridge is, I believe, at mile marker 3 on I-70 so you'll pretty much avoid the downtown traffic. I just went this way this morning and didn't encounter any construction. Happy Trails!
Stan

Is I-70 at KC a toll road?

Bob,
Let me clarify....I-70 becomes a tollroad when driving west into Kansas but not going east. This begs the question on who would want to pay to go to Kansas. (Mizzou fan here).

From Kansas City to Nashville on the Interstate numbers I listed in post #4--no toll roads at all.
