Kansas City to Columbus, GA

Live just south of KC, MO and headed to Columbus, GA to see my daughter participate in the Miss Georgia pageant in late June. Planned route is KC to Fayetteville, AR the first day. Leaving after work so this is the short part of the trip. One night there. Fayetteville, AR to Jackson, MS for one night. Jackson, MS to Columbus, GA and staying at FDR State Park just north of Columbus for the weekend. Columbus, GA to Memphis, TN for one night on the return trip and then back home.

Looking for suggestions on campgrounds along this route and close to main highways. Long round trip in a short time so good driving time is of the essence. Appreciate any feedback. Each destination can be altered a few miles either way. Just wanted to throw some landmarks out there.

Randy.....In October we stayed at Springridge Mobile Estates RV campground in Clinton, MS. for a night. Its just south of I 29 at exit 36, just west of Jackson, MS. Easy off and on the interstate...and a very cool restaurant called FROGS...I think ...just across Springridge Road next to Applebees.

Hope this helps in your planning. Travel safe.

BOB

Thanks Bob. We'll check it out. When you mentioned FROGS restaurant I remembered it from your previous post while on your long trip last fall. Wish we could take more time on this trip but this was rather unexpected and other trips/vacations already planned. My wife has seen very little of the south so we want to take different routes down and back. I lived in Atlanta for 23 years before returning to the Midwest but never did any camping down there.

We stayed at Three Creeks Golf and RV Resort at Lowell AR last spring on our way to Crater of Diamonds. It is just North of Fayetteville. It is a little pricey but was not much else available near the main highway, about 3 miles West of highway. Had nice level pull thrus

Have a safe trip.
