Layover in Rockford IL

Biggest RV trip ever for us in less than a month....Door County Bound.

Laying over in Rockford IL, looking for some suggestions. Avoiding Chicago and limiting our drive to roughly 5 hours. Help!

Rock Cut State Park is real nice. But as an Illinois State Park, there are no sewer hook ups at the camp sites - just dump station on the way out...

2 miles from the East Riverside Blvd exit when going north on 90/39. The highway is actually the eastern border of the park. The campground is about a mile west of the highway with heavy foliage, so you shouldn't be able to hear any road noise.

Second recommendation for Rock Cut, close to highway but noise is not a problem.

You may also want to check out the Hononegah Forest Preserve in Rockton, also close to 39/90.

Drive 30 minutes more to Edgerton/ Milton Wi still on your way north. 3 large campgrounds right off the interstate.

I know this thread is old but I had to mention the direcions to Rock Cut just in case anyone else finds this while searching.

Take the 173 exit which is just a few miles north of the Riverside exit. There is an entrance into the park right on 173.
