I'll probably get flamed for this, but while we're on the subject of noise pollution...in MY OPINION, they should fire the guy who thought to put speakers and TV's on the outside of camping rigs. O.K., maybe I can see it if you're "tailgating" at your local stadium or race track, but in the middle of a National Forrest?

just because they are there, doesn't mean they have to be loud. Blame the owners, not the equipment. I keep mine at a level that can't be hear outside of my site.

My camping buddy is a leaf blower guy.....lol. Another reason I leave my bedroom AC fan on "on".

Well, you are correct. In fact, my last trip out I noticed a guy watching his outdoor TV and using headphones. I have outdoor speakers and TV mount and have never even tried them out.

I have an electric leaf blower and I will use it if I need to. It is not as loud as some of the high powered gas blowers. But understand, I want other campers to respect my peace and quiet and I will respect theirs. I used it on the last trip, during the middle of the day, after the mowing crew left. Even though they used their own blower, there was still dust and grass clippings on the patio and the sides of the TT. Did the job and turned if off as soon as I could, so I could have some peace and quiet.

I too get easily annoyed at certain noise things. Last camping trip people 4 sites down hung a sheet and played some sort of dancing thing with half naked guys and scantily clad women. I could see and hear it 4 sites away. It was loud enough that far away to annoy me. I also thought it to be very inappropriate. They shut it off somewhere around 1130 pm.

That said we do carry a leaf blower but do not use it much. It is typically used for only a couple of minutes to blow off the slides and roof before departure, usually somewhere in late morning. Don't usually fire it up for more than 5 min one time during a trip. Ours is also electric and not horribly loud. We play music but not loud enough to be heard off the site. We also trained our dog out of barking in the camper.... We have asked neighbors to tell us if he does bark because we don't want him too. As others said, I respect others right to quiet as much as I expect them to respect mine. I don't do anything I wouldn't want done by the campers next door to me. It's called the golden rule and so many have forgotten it.

Was this at Goshen ? I think I might know who these culprits might be.

Am I the only one that thinks that leaf blowers are the most ridiculous power tool ever invented? Here in the Northeast, we have our fair share of fall foliage, which all eventually loses its enchantment and drops to the ground. This is where the local homeowner (and by extension, CG resident) whips out his trusty gas/electric powered leaf blower in a vain attempt to one-up Mother Nature and banish the leaves to their neighbor's property. If you think those leaves you're blowing into a pile and off your lawn out into the street aren't going to blow back into your yard, you're smoking some serious cedar shrub.

Now a leaf vacuum and mulcher--that's the Shiznit right there!

Seriously?
Are you talking about my 12 amp electric leaf blower or a 50 calibre cannon? I don't see how the debris from my blower (debris here meaning leaves) could harm even a weakling unless he stuck his eyeball 6" in front of my air spout. People must use blowers powered by J47 engines in your neck of the woods. Ha!

I hardly think my outside speakers and tv on ,so only I can hear them, are more annoying than screaming kids (I got those too) or the yapping dog....I respect ALL quiet hours. ......Ive had grumpy old people come and complain about the kids (not even mine) at 8pm on a holiday weekend (quiet hours at 10pm).....I think some people just WANT something to complain about because its the only thing they got going in life..

Had a guy use one to blow dry his Harley at a state park last year. Middle of the day but, still....I go to these places to get away from the noise.

There is nice new item called a broom.. They are small easily stored and don't make any noise. They work great to clear a small area like a campsite.

WARNING - THESE DEVICES DO REQUIRE A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF EFFORT BE EXERTED.

Wakonda state park sounds like an interesting park with a swimming beach and six lakes that attract migratory water fowl. The campground has about 80 campsites and 4 or 8 of them are full hookup sites depending on which webpage you look at. I’m guessing the park recently upgraded from 4 to 8 full hookup sites. Wakonda is one of those parks that have never been on my radar so I’m looking forward to spending a couple of nights there and checking it out. The corps parks we have in our area are hard to beat though.
We were there in the summer of 1994. It was recovering from being flooded out in '93. Primarily catfishing in the lakes and as you might imagine it was not at its best appearance, many muddy cabins awaiting tear down and mosquitoes waiting on late night fishermen. Should be well recovered by now and I think there were many improvements planned over the original park.
