Looking for a park 3-4 hours from DFW
Been looking for a couple weeks now for a park to take the kids on spring break. Only want to go no more than 4 hours from DFW. Looked at everything from San Antonio to Oklahoma and Arkansas. Just want something in the woods with lots of shade and full hookups. I know that's a lot to ask but I am sure they are out there. Any advice??

While visiting our son in 2009 in San Antonio, he took us to Paradise Canyon in Rio Medina which is about 4.5 hours from you. It's a great place for the kids to swim and a beautiful area. Their web site says rv's are welcome and I do remember seeing some there when we went. Here is a picture I found and a link to some more.

Left out some info....might be a little too cold for swimming in early March. Fishing would be cool if its like a stocked pond or something. Kids really get a kick out of that the couple times we have done it. Additionally we are not looking to really get out and do a lot of things. More just relaxing and getting to know our new RV on the maiden voyage.

Well if you want warm weather your going to have to come down to the Rio Grande Valley lots here 70* to 80* close to South Padre Island but its about 7 to 8 hours but worth the trip. Check with Weslaco Chamber of Commerce for RV parks

I found that some of the Texas State Parks actually have some pull thru full hookup sites. They call the "FULL HOOK-UP PREMIUM". Dangerfield State Park down in the East Texas woods.

East Texas
Lake O' the Pines is well shaded with several campgrounds, playground, marked swimming area, pull-throughs, shower houses and full hookups (both 30 and 50); also Daingerfield State Park with a lake, and Caddo Lake State Park.

Lake Murray State Park is the largest state park in Oklahoma and has some very nice campsites. They do not take reservations at the park. We camped twice there in the autumn and did not have a problem finding a great spot, but it may be a challenge for Spring Break.

Check out Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park outside Tyler, TX. Kid activities abound. And Tyler State Park is nearby.

I just saw that Daingerfield has internet....That is unexpected. Any idea how good it is?

Park
Check out Leisure resort. Located on the Sam Marcus river. Camping, fishing, tubing, looks like a nice park.

If it helps any, I believe those spider webs were several years ago, and haven't occurred since.
