Looking for camping/boating spots in MI and IN

Hi everyone,

We are new to the whole camper/5th wheel thing, but we have been boating for a long time. We would LOVE to find some places that are both camper and boat friendly, especially in MI and IN and maybe OH and WI. We are taking delivery on a Columbus 365RL this week and we have a 26 foot sport cruiser.

Does anyone know of facilities on a lake (inland or great lake) that has both good (and kid/family friendly) camping facilities and boat slips available?

You have to check out S. Higgins State Park in MI. We spend a week there every summer and have taken our boat and SeaDoos with us.
Large campsites (~500) and an awesome boat launch in a protected boat basin with plenty of beaching spots for overnight parking.
The lake is the largest inland lake in MI and is super clean.
A must see!

Cedarville RV Park, Cedarville, MI, UP, has excellent boat ramp, rentals and is a very nice park. I am told that there are more wooden hull boats there then any place in the world? Kid friendly, a few of the RV reviews on the park state that there is not much to do for kids, no swimming pool, you must swim in the lake (Lake Huron). Good Luck

Lake of the Ozarks State Park in Missouri has boat slips in the park, right next to the campground, that will accommodate your 26' cruiser, and a very good launch ramp right at the little state park marina. If you can go in the next 6 weeks or so, it is beautiful boating on that lake after Labor Day. Our favorite time there was fall boating, after most of the tourists left...otherwise, that lake is pretty crowded.

Also, Kentucky Dam marina on Kentucky Lake is very nice. Campground is about 2 to 3 miles away from the marina, and the sites are just a little tight to back into (no angle, have to back in 90 degrees from the road) but it is a great lake to boat on.

Finally, also on Kentucky Lake, but further south, the Tennessee State Parks are very nice, and many of them have marinas and launch ramps.

Enjoy!

It is a long haul, but Table Rock State Park on Table Rock Lake near Branson, MO fits your requirements perfectly. The State Park is very nice with large full hook up sites. There have been several FROG events there. The marina in the park is near the campground (right next to one loop) and is full service handling all size boats. Table Rock is beautiful, very clear, but not overly developed.

Thompson Illinois has a COE Campground on the Mississippi. Also, in Potosi, Wi, also a beautiful W & E campground on the Mississippi. Lots of sites northern Wisconsin, up towards Door county, you can camp and take your boat. Bayshore County Park has W & E, and has a boat landing, on the bay of Green Bay. Love camping there. Lots of private campgrounds in southern Wi along the Mississippi.
