Mackinac Bridge
Going to Sault Ste. Marie next week and just discovered we would pulling the LaCrosse Motel across Mackinac Bridge. Has anyone been over it, if so are the any special rules or regs., are the lanes wide or narrow, what speed is allowed, and about what is the cost. Just kind of wondering, going anyway.
Thanks

You will have a great time up at the Soo this time of year! You should have no issue crossing the bridge. There are signs that clearly state what you need to do. It might get a little hairy at times, just sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery! We have crossed it several times with out incident. The only thing you might want to watch out for, is the weather. If the winds are high enough, they close the bridge! Also an item to note, they do offer a bridge crossing assist! Someone with drive your rig over for you. Of course, you will ride along. I hope these bits of info help!! As a "Boat Nerd", we have been to the Soo quite a bit!! Post pics when you can!

Mighty Mack
Living here in the U.P. we have crossed the Mighty Mac Several times with our TT. I usually just follow truck speed limit (20) as it gets pretty windy up on the bridge. I have had many people towing campers pass right by me but I just feel more comfortable going slower. Inside lane turns to grate out near center in both directions so I like to be in outside lanes if possible. Lanes are Average size you should not have a problem crossing. Watch for the tune you radio to signs as you approach the station always has conditions of the bridge and if any restrictions are in place (Usually wind ).

Crossing the bridge is not a big deal. I mean that as meaning it's not difficult but it is beautiful and a great experience. There are times when the wind is a factor and in those times you may have to wait a short time to gather enough trucks and RV's to caravan across with a guide. It is very rare that the bridge is closed and that is a safety issue for very high winds. You would want to hold up someplace in that weather anyway.
Go and enjoy the trip and don't worry about the bridge.

Be advised though the last I heard there was a total restriction of moving ANY type of fire wood into the U.P. of Mich.

We made the Mackinac Bridge crossing without any trouble, after some of the road construction lane narrowing in Michigan, the bridge was like driving down the middle of 2 lanes. The scariest part of the crossing was looking at the bridge and all of the info on the inter net.
Thanks everyone for the adivce and info. If you go across the bridge, just get in the outside lane, drive down the middle of that lande at 20 mph and it seems like it is over in notime. Cost was $8.00, not much of a price for the great view.
Thanks again, the Forest River Owner Group came thru with flying colors.
