Maiden voyage is over

Well we successfully made our maiden voyage. We traveled to Camping, Campground, Campsites | River Plantation in Sevierville TN this week. I figured it would be a nice getaway, not too close and not too far. My only worry was how the truck was going to handle in the mountains, especially never having towed anything as big as our 5er.

Things I learned:
The overdrive is a miracle going downhill.

Cruise control was more troublesome than just using my foot.

I use more non-christian words in rapid succession when lost.

Not only do I need to watch curbs, but restaurant signs as well.

Informing the fast food staff that "Yes I do know that I can't park that big thing there" as I try to figure out how to get back to the interstate while in Knoxville in the middle of the night, can be somewhat satisfying.

Google maps time estimation is not an accurate reflection of real driving time.

Congratulations on a successful trip! We will be bring home our (soon to be) 'new to us' 5th-wheel next month. I can envision us experiencing several of your observations! Nervous and excited at the same time - can't wait!!

X2 on Google Maps. Great and free features, but I ignore the drive times and just take the mileage and divide by 50. It is almost always right over any long distance except in very poor (snow/thunderstorm) conditions or road construction delays. 250 mi. = 5 hrs.

As soon as you think you are making better time, ain't that great.... someone has to stop for something again, it's time to get food, a bug flies into your eye, something is banging around loose somewhere, or you need fuel again...😂
