Thanks everyone for your great ideas. This helps so much but looks like we might need to stay in Michigan for a couple of months cause it will be hard to decide! Lol

When I was in Munising, I didn't care for the city campground. ...I went down the road to the federal campground. Very large, wooded sites, a bit more rustic.
Munising is worth the trip either way you go. My all time favorite is near Mackinaw Island. It's private but you can see Mackinak island, the bridge and has a mile of lake/beach and a nice swimming pool. Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping is a Mackinaw City RV Resort Camp on the Straits of Mackinac and has Cabins with Kitchenettes
You are going to Mackinaw Island aren't you on the way up? It's a must do/see for Michigan. No motorized vehicles. You get there by Ferry boat. Travel on the island by horse buggy cab or bicycle. We usually rent bikes or have ours with us. It's 7 miles around, but you can just hang out in the townsy part. Beautiful views everywhere and lots of famous Mackinac Island Fudge.
