Most of the popular campsites/campgrounds are already booked for the popular weekends in the summer, but you should have luck on the off weekends/weekdays.

Does anyone have a good suggestion of a CG that is close to Eastpointe, MI? We want to swing by there after Goshen this year and visit with 6 Actual's mom & dad for a couple of days.

I have never seen any CGs in the area when we have been up there - it is a very urban area - would appreciate any advice (prefer 50AMP, full hookup)

Wish I could help you, I am in the very rural part of the mitten (the spot where your ring finger touches the middle finger) and Eastpointe is in the heart of Detroit. How far are you willing to travel away?

Hi NavySailor,

We would like to keep it within 30-45 min drive Max - I realize this is probably asking a lot (after all who in their right mind wants to camp in Eastpointe/Detroit )

Algonac State Park roughly 50 mins up the road, across the border from Canada. Never been, but the pictures look promising. Has 50 amp service also.

X2, great campground, you can sit at your site and watch the freighters on the river. It's a bit windy at times but very nice. gets very busy on weekends.

Algonac State is one of my favorite state parks. Thirty miles from my house. Easy drive up I-94 from Eastpointe. The park is right on the St. Claire river. Sit and watch the big freighters going by.
It's not full hookup. Fill up with water when you pull in.

If your going to the U.P. of Michigan check out the Keweenaw Peninsula (Copper Country). We have a lot of copper mining history and beautiful country side scenery. If you have questions about the area PM me.

Ed

ps Just landed in Amarillo Tx for a few days.

If your coming from the Lower Peninsula, yes you can cross the bridge and then take US2 to US 41 into Green Bay. Or there is a ferry across Lake Michigan you take a 5er on.
