Planning to head from Ga to Louisville, Ky and onto Michigan and Wisconsin next summer. Looking for places to go and things to do in western Mi and eastern Wisconsin.

The WI sites that are mention are great but we prefer the westerner side of MI. We have been to both states and the WI camp sites that offer full hook-up and things to do are far and few between.
Now in western MI along the lake there are plenty of sandy beaches and full hook-up campgrounds around the area. Some of them are Sunny Brook RV resort in South Have MI, Duck Creek RV resort in Muskegon MI, Poncho's Pond in Ludington MI where you can take the SS Badger, a ferry across Lake Michigan to Manitowoc WI and another place is Holiday Park in Travers City. Sleeping bear Dunes is not far from Travers City. To name just a few areas to visit.

There was once a time I would highly recommend our Wisconsin state parks but no more. I was a long time volunteer camp ground host and had to quit due to lack of security and maintenance in our state parks.
Wisconsin is the only state in the union which forces the state park system to be self funded. This system is simply unworkable and drastic staff cuts have led to long deferred maintenance and cut backs in security. State park rangers no longer have law enforcement credentials.
To add to the embarrassment of our state parks the gate fees and camp site fees keep increasing. Expect to pay up to $50.00 a night for a poorly maintained electric, (if it works) site. Your out of state gate fee will be $53.00. Enjoy Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, they all have wonderful sate parks. Plus those states maintain their roads ours are in horrible shape and getting worse.
I recommend Copper harbor at the tip of the Keshena Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

When in cheeseville (WI) you should get some of New Glarus brewing companies Spotted Cow beer. It's only sold in cheeseville and is one of my favorites. I make special trips across the border on the bike...

The western U.P. of Michigan has lot to offer. You have the Porcupine Mt. for wilderness and hiking going north to the Keweenaw where copper mining was king over 100 yrs ago. Go to https://www.keweenaw.info/ for all the things and happenings for the area.

We stayed at a NF park I believe called Bayview in the UP with huge sites right on Lake Superior, no hookups though. Another favorite was in Wisconsin. It was also a NF cg called Two Lakes. Lots of loons and 2 beautiful crystal clear lakes.

Check out Dunes Harbor campground https://www.dunesharbor.org/ in Siler Lake Michigan. Beautiful newer campground with great prices. Near the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. The only dunes in the area where you can drive on them, rent a atv or utv, or go on a group tour riding on a huge dune buggy ride that holds around 15 people. A great place right on Lake Michigan.

X2. Thank you Gov Walker, his cronies he put in charge of the DNR and Parks and Recreation and his best buddies, the Koch Brothers.

Kimberly-Clark closing 2 paper mills in WI, Koch Bros can't afford to keep them operating.
