Need Arkansas travel suggestions.
We are headed to Arkansas in October and would appreciate some suggestions for "things to do". We are staying at Crater of Diamonds State Park for 6 nights then on to Lake Fort Smith State Park for 4 nights. Final destination is Branson before heading home. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Eureka Springs is on way to Branson from Fort Smith great place and when down at Crater of Diamonds, there are also places north of there to do some crystal digging, it is alot of fun if you like crystals. Bentonville has a great musuem Crystal Bridges, great art and beautiful grounds to walk around.

You can't forget the Wal-Mart museum in downtown Bentonville! Northwest Arkansas will be a beautiful drive in October! Been full timing in my fiver just outside Rogers Arkansas for a little over a year now. I absolutely love Northwest Arkansas! Plenty of hiking and sight seeing.

While at Crater of Diamonds SP take a day trip or two to Hot Springs.
Hot Springs, Arkansas
If you are so inclined you can fish for trout on the Little Missouri River behind Narrows Dam just north of Murfreesboro. I'm on that part of the river about once a week during October. Ouachita National Forest offers a lot of trails and other outdoor activities. Lake Greeson is formed by Narrows Dam for water activities.

Just went on a 9 day motorcycle trip and on our return, we spent two days in Hot Springs. Love the downtown area with some fun stores and restaurants--Fat Jacks and the Ohio Club were really good eating and loved the patio area at Fat Jack's. We had prime rib at the Brick House that was definitely worth raving over. I am not a big gambler but the group went to the Casino there for awhile and we did some driving around the checking out a few rv parks for us to return to with our rvs. Have always enjoyed the Ouachita area for fishing and boating or just driving around to take pictures. Checked out Lake Catherine State Park for the first time and we're thinking about staying there in the rvs soon.
Let us know what you think of Crater of Diamonds State Park and to Lake Fort Smith State Park and post pics if you can. Have never seen either and would like to add them to our list of "gonna look intos" if they are good for rving.

Lake Catherine SP is a nice park. The hikes around the park are also nice. Horseback riding is also available in the area. One thing you need to be aware of is that the park is just across the lake from Remmel Dam which forms the lake. The dam throws off a lot of light during the night. And a hum from the generators I guess. Not noticeable during the day but at night when things quiet down .....Huuuuummmmmmmmm. It's operated by Entergy.
Two other SP are in the Hot Springs area. Lake Ouachita and Lake DeGray. Gulpha Gorge is the NP campground. There are also several COE campgrounds and one NF campground on or near the southern shoreline of Lake Ouachita. Access is via US270W west of Hot Springs to Mt. Ida. Numerous commercial RV parks are in the area. We do not lack for camping sites.

Petit Jean SP is considered Arkansas's flagship SP. It's a beautiful SP situated high above the Arkansas River plain. Mather Lodge and restaurant were renovated a few years ago. Seven Hollows Trail is one of the nicest trails in the state particularly in the Fall and Winter after the leaves are off the trees.
Magazine Mtn. SP sits on the highest point in Arkansas. Great views from top of the mountain. Hang gliding for the more adventurous.

Google Arkansas Parks and Tourism. Plenty of information on the web site. Try Mountain View and The Ozark Folk Center for a taste of the real Ozarks music and life. No sparklie suits like Branson, but it's the real thing. All Arkansas State Parks are great....a notch or two above the others. No budget problems in Arkansas Parks...we love out parks and tourists.

Speaking of the Folk Center I'll have to mention Blanchard Springs Caverns north of the Center near Fifty-Six, AR.
"we love our parks and tourists." Indeed we do!

NW Arkansas is spectacular in the fall! You will love it. The drive north from Ft Smith through the Boston Mountains to Bentonville is wonderful. Arkansas Hwy 7 is great in the fall.

Might look into Eureka Springs, AR only thing don't go into downtown a lot so you will never make the corners from there go over to Berryville and you can come into Branson from the west. If you come up 65 from the south and go west on 76 to Silver Dollar City the traffic is terrible. Get a map of Branson they have color coded routes that you can bypass 76 and go to theaters easier. By not making corners in Eureka that is pulling a TT or Motor home.
