New Mexico to Nashville
Need any info on stops and things to see, plan to run 40 across heading to the Nashville rally with the Phat Phrogs!!!! Thanks for any info.

Rennie, on US 54 at Carrizozo, NM (SE of Albuquerque) is Valley of the Fires, an ancient lava field from a volcano that erupted there hundreds of thousands of years ago. The National Park Service has a decent campground right on the property. A little bit out of the way, (you turn off of I-40 at exit 218) but worth seeing if you have the time.
Where are you starting from in NM?

Also, if you are into history, the Clinton presidential library is in Little Rock, and I-40 goes right through Little Rock. There is also a campground in North Little Rock with a walking bridge over the river right onto the grounds of the library. Not a fancy campground, more like a parking lot with full hook-ups, but a decent place to stay if you are visiting the library and surrounding riverfront area.

And Memphis, of course, has Graceland and all things Elvis.
All of these suggestions are, in and of themselves, not "destinations" (OK, maybe Graceland is, to some people, like making a pilgrimage to Mecca) but if you are passing through, they are all worth a stop. These are the kinds of places that we like to visit and write about in our blog, Road Stories.

Just be careful going through Memphis. It has a history of excessive traffic enforcement. Also I wouldn't take an RV into the Graceland. Turn into the parking area is very tight, across from Graceland. High traffic road.

Great info Mike thanks , we are looking for a place near Taos as the reason for the trip is to visit our son who lives out there, think ski bum, so anywhere near him is good.

Good point, Roger.
There is a campground just over the state line in northern Mississippi where we have stayed. Close to Graceland and Memphis, extremely nice and, for dblr, big-rig friendly.

Well, if you are in/around Taos, the Pueblo is a Must see! Town Square Santa Fe has a great market and the Loretto Chapel (and Miraculous Staircase). The Bradbury Science Museum in Los Alamos is cool if you are in to that sort of thing. If you are a SF Fan, the movie Thor was filmed in Santa Fe & Galisteo, NM (Galisteo is a few miles south of Santa Fe - a funky art community and movie sets (the movie sets are only open occasionally).
It is a long drive from Santa Fe, but you would miss a bet to not go to Mesa Verde National Park while you are out west!
On your way back from Taos, spend the day in Albuquerque Old town and make SURE to go to the candy lady (yeah go ahead and Google her  )
Motoring along to Nashville, a detour and stop at the Roswell UFO museum is almost obligatory for visitors to New Mexico.

The Memorial in Oklahoma City of the bombing really should be a must see.
It is a very well done memorial of one of America's true tragedy's.

When we visited Graceland last summer , we stayed at Tom Sawyer RV park in West Memphis. If you like the river and watching river traffic it is a good place. The tug boats come right by as you are literally right on the river bank. Also, when you go through Memphis, pay close attention to the signs as there is construction unless they have finished it up since September.

When Taos we always stay at the Taos Valley RV Park & Campground on the south side of town. Plenty to see and do in Taos.
