The price for what the OP stated they Had to have, Full Hookups. LA State parks are usually only half of that, but Electric and water only, with a dump station.
We like both Fontenbeu in Mandeville and Bayou Segnette in Harvey.
Both are convenient yet not in the city with all the associated traffic, etc. And at far less expense.

Poche
We have stayed at all of the ones already mentioned. The most exclusive is the French Quarter RV Resort (very nice pool & hot tub, walk to the Quarter, excellent Staff). We Winter in Louisiana and stay at Poche Plantation & RV Park in Convent, LA. A 50 minute drive to the Quarter, but right in the plantation area and on the historic River Road. Been here three years and love it.

Buccaneer State Park in Waveland.
We also had a good experience with Buccaneer State Park in Waveland MS..
It is about an hour outside of New Orleans, but the park is immaculate.

We're also going to go to NOLA in early June for our 25th Anniversary. We're planning on staying at Bayou Signette for a few days.

If you have kids and a dog look at reunion lake RV resort in Robert Louisiana or buccaneer in Mississippi both are about the same distance to the French quarter in New Orleans. For the kids REUNION LAKE RV RESORT IS A MUST!

Check out Bayou Signette SP. Only 15 minutes ffrom downtown or you can take the Algiers ferry across the river to the French Quarter.

If you opt to stay in a state park be aware that senior discounts only apply to out of state guests if your state has a reciprocal agreement with Louisiana. Texas does not, I don't know about your state.

We were in New Orleans last May and stayed at the French Quarter RV Resort. It's super nice, walled in and gated, just off I-10, and only about a three block walk into the heart of the French Quarter. Once you're parked, there's no more driving, no looking for parking spaces, and just stroll into the Quarter as often as you like. It's a little pricey, but in my book well worth it.

I have a similar mount on my fifth wheel. It works well!

Slidell
A great place for RV stays is Slidell just across the lake on I-10. Lots of restaurants and Grocery stores. The town is Quiet and contry feel. The campground is very well maintained and set among pines and country. The people are great and it is only 30 minutes on 10 to get to down town and attractions.
