New State Park

Just a heads up for those who enjoy state parks. Missouri’s newest state park is opening July 30th. The park’s campground offers 62 full hookup RV sites. The park is small by state park standards but it’s in a beautiful area.

The previous owner of this property held concerts at the site called, “Schwagstock.” Drugs became a serious problem at the site and eventually the DEA seized the property. The DEA held an auction and the Missouri DNC submitted the winning bid and has turned it into a state park.

Holy smokes! Just googled that. Spent many years tent camping on the federal land known as "Sinking Creek". We always thought that "Camp Zoe" across the highway was odd.

I do remember years ago reading about the drug bust and the owner. Silly me, never realized that that was the place.

LOL! I forgot to include the name of the new state park. It is Echo Bluff State Park located in Shannon County, MO.

I think it's interesting there is still a webpage for Camp Zoe. I had heard about the new state park months ago but to find out where Echo Bluff was I had to go to the Camp Zoe webpage to find directions.

LOL

You sound like a weather man (There's a tornado warning in Podunk County, MO) when we travel. How the heck are we supposed to know county names? I never know whether to duck or not. Tell me a nearby city so I can find it on a map, Mr. Weatherman!

MO is a close place on my radar to do camping in coming years. Lake Wappapella looks promising. Truman Reservoir maybe.

Is this new one near a lake (that has crappie)???

Better watch out for the logging trucks that run highway 19. I think my butt left a few hickies on the seat due to those guys. LOL

The new park is on Sinking Creek which is a major tributary of the Current River. It's near Salem, MO

Thanks Oakman! Here's a link. I definitely want to visit Arkansas and Missoiri state parks.
