If you are into SCI FI, read the book WOOL by Hugh Howey. It's pretty captivating and related to this apocalypse stuff.

"Wool is a series of science fiction novellas by American writer Hugh Howey. Film rights to the story have been sold to 20th Century Fox, with director Ridley Scott and Steve Zaillian expressing interest in the film adaptation." Wikipedia
