Next Season Longer Trips

As my kids get older and the season starts to get into the last few months I am starting to think about next years plans and where to go and how far is too far. My wife has now on board with the RV life and really is having fun if the conditions are right. Her requirements are....not too hot. Must be able to sit out and not get drenched in sweat. Must be near water...if not directly next to water you must see it from your chair and Not too far from basic needs for the kids or similar.
We are locked in on a trip to table rock that will be at least 4 days....possibaly more depending on if we decide to check out anywhere else. I really want to head north in to WI or MI but we will see. This table rock trip will be the farthest we have gone and really its only about 5 hours.

Any other suggestions?

Check out the Army Corp of Engineers campgrounds in your area. Many are located right near the water's edge, and space between campsites is generally greater than you'll find in a private campground. We're retired, and use the Senior Pass at the Corp locations. Ten bucks a night is hard to beat. Generally, you'll need to fill the fresh tank on the way in, and dump your tanks on the way out, but electrical service has been excellent in all we've stayed at. Important, too, the rangers patrol the parks methodically, the restrooms and showers are kept clean, fire pits are routinely cleaned, and mowing is up to par. The ones we frequent offer paved roads, shade trees, and long spaces. On weekends (at least before Labor Day), the rangers put on a variety of interesting walks and discussions. As with any park, amenities will vary by location.

We'll be camping this entire month. With all the kids back in school, it's usually just us 'old timers' ruling the parks these days! Oh, the joys of retirement!

I too love the Army Corp of Engineer camps. We stay 2 weeks at Kerr Lake every year. It is aways an enjoyable trip, we most of my family there between 4 RV's. We are right on the water and are still under shade trees while at the camper. The only down side is no sewer connection but that can be solved by a sewer tote.

We camp at Rend Lake and Carlyle, both or clean shady and close to the lake.
