NM For Work

My work will be taking me to Carlsbad NM for several months, My wife and I have decided to haul our 2008 Cardinal down there so I dont have to stay in a hotel. most places I have called tell me I have to pay for water and electric. I have never had to meter my camper on electric. Does anyone know about how much my bill will run. I have two 15K AC units plus the normal utility eaters.

That's like asking "how long is a price of rope". It all depends. How much electricity do you use? You must decide which is cheaper Gas or Electric. I pay $.11 per KWH for my house in Florida. I pay $.24 KWH at camp in MA. I'm gonna put my trailer Refridgerator on gas at camp. My WH is on gas. Furnace on gas. My electric runs $60/80 per month at camp. That's without AC. that why we are there. We became Sunbirds. Get a BJ's Whole club membership. They sell propane cheap.

Last year I was talking to an owner of a small RV Park here in Texas and he told me in the summer when the large trailers come in and run both A/C's it costs him about $8.00 a day for electricity. I have no reason to doubt him but then again no evidence to prove it either.

I'd probably budget a couple of hundred and see what happens, that should be in the ballpark.

you'll be paying for a seasonal site. It's cheaper. On those sites, you pay for metered electric.

Just be warned about the Carlsbad, NM area. The oil field ramp ups of the last several years have made cost of living very high there. Especially any type of housing. Run down motels are $160 a night. RV park reservations are very hard to come by. Folks are making extra bucks by turning their front yards into RV parking.

We recently canceled going to a bowling tournament that Carlsbad was hosting due to high costs of staying there, even in an RV.

Hopefully you fare better.

On the other hand, if you want to sell an RV, Carlsbad is the place to do it! My BIL sold his very old unit there for top $$$
