Rend Lake recommendations anyone?

We are looking at Rend Lake in southern Illinois to spend a few days. It looks like our options for camping are North Sandusky Recreation area managed by the Army Corp of Engineers, or Wayne Fitzgerald State Park. I was hoping someone could give us the low-down on these two campgrounds. Thanks!

We have stayed at North Sandusky on several occasions and like it. There are several sites that have a view of the lake, but they are very hard to get. (Usually have to book them about 6 months in advance). Also I would avoid site 28. It is extremely downhill and would be difficult to get your camper level. I have camped in the state park but it has been several years ago. It is a nice campground, but I personally prefer the COE campgrounds since I only live about 10 miles from them.

We stayed at North Sandusky last year on our way home from the Smokies. On the west side of the lake, I thought it was a little difficult to find, but once we got there, it was great. We love COE campgrounds and this one did not disappoint.
