Trimming trees with my trusty backpacking bow saw is just one of the services I provide to campgrounds that have allowed their trees to grow wild, bushy, and untamed over a campsite. I actually carry three different types of hand saws for trimming foliage.

I carry a little saw like this:
Doesn't take up much space. If I can get my hands on a limb, this booger will cut it. Take my advice, keep your fingers and hands away from the saw teeth when using.
If the park owners or managers won't trim'em, I will!
State parks tend to be more woodsy with space between sites. Privately owned parks are limited to taxable land thus the need to jam sites closer together to turn a profit. I have stayed in some where the previous statement wouldn't apply.
There are exceptions for every rule and rules for every exception!
