SouthEastern MO Camping areas???

Any of you camp in Southern Eastern Mo?
Like areas off of Highway 67 between Bonne Terre and Greenville Mo???

The only place I've camped at recently was Silvermines Campground of 72.

Years and years ago, I tent camped at Sam A. Baker, but that must have been 35+ years ago... Not sure how it is now...

Sam A Baker is pretty much the same as its always been, which is not a bad thing. I like it there. Going slightly (well... maybe not slightly) off 67 you have Hawn State park. And COE HWY K campground in Annapolis. Washington State Park is off Hwy 21. Its a nice park, but there is very little to actually do there.

St. Joe is another park right off of 67, but its next to a big Off-road vehicle area, so getting a site might be rough in the peak season. Probably the nicest park in that area is St. Francis. Its right off of 67.

There are plenty of private campgrounds of varying quality in that area too.

Wappapello is nice as is Clearwater...lots of private sites at Clearwater as well but the army Corp sites are the best and on the lake. Also near 67 is st. Francois but no 50 amp service. Wappapello is nice at corp sites also...try recreation.gov.

I am interested in doing some camping in Southeast Missouri also. Years ago we camped at most of the ones already listed, so I wanted to find something different. I just did a google search and found a lot of campgrounds that I didn't know were there.
Google----- campgrounds in southeast Missouri .
Most of them have reviews listed.
We just camped at Cuivre River State Park this past weekend. That campground is North up by Troy, Missouri, but is a nice campground. That was our first time out with this camper since buying it last Jan.
Good Luck and happy camping!

"whop-a-prop" is a good fishing lake, but not so good for recreational boating. Shallow in places with lots of hidden trees/logs. The park is fairly nice. If you go, spend a day and make a trip to the Mingo Wildlife refuge (about 30 minutes away). Very nice place.

THE very best one is at Columbus KY on a high bluff overlooking the Mississippi River across from MO. Cross the Miss and Ohio rivers at Cairo and go south ~20 miles. View miles of the ~mile wide river---Civil War battlefield, etc. I got married there last year.
