Left TN on 19 July. Stopped in OK and in TX today at Amarillo KOA. We saw many RVs out on the road today. Enjoy America all...

Demoore,
I think that you will like the weather here in Washington, especially if you are planning to be on the West side! 90 to 100 Eastern Washington, but 70 to 80 on the West side! Safe travels!

Not sure of your route, but avoid the Flagstaff KOA. Thought I would never make it through the trees and the slideouts were hanging over the neighbors picnic table. Agree that seeing the USA is fun!

When we went to the Grand Canyon, we stayed at the Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA. Very nice camp. That will put you an hour from the South Rim. There is another KOA not far from there on the way to the GC but The Pines has more shade.
On the North Side, I believe we stayed at the Jacob Lake Campground. It was picturesque but as I recall, the utilities were limited.
The GC North Side isn't RV friendly. If you use your TV or your Toad, you'll be OK.
All this is assuming that the GC is on your to-do list?????

We've had seven dry weeks with clear skies, a gentle breeze and highs just around 70. Here in Anacortes (particularly our neighborhood) the cold sea water moderates the temperature. It's about 600' deep just a couple of miles from our front yard.

You'll find it similar in Port Orchard. Winters are relatively mild, too. Overnight lows below 25 degrees are unusual, and it's very rare to get winter daytime highs below freezing.

BTW, our son went in the Navy straight from high school. He served his entire career on the USS Curts (FFG-38, I think) based at at Yokosuka. He married a Japanese girl and now lives in Japan, working for a French company.
