When we went to the Grand Canyon, we stayed at the Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA. Very nice camp. That will put you an hour from the South Rim. There is another KOA not far from there on the way to the GC but The Pines has more shade.
On the North Side, I believe we stayed at the Jacob Lake Campground. It was picturesque but as I recall, the utilities were limited.
The GC North Side isn't RV friendly. If you use your TV or your Toad, you'll be OK.
All this is assuming that the GC is on your to-do list?????
