The reason your cell phone wouldn't work is the train and it's horn created a disturbance in the earth's magnetic field and a small black hole formed disrupting communications. It also pulled some spurious comments in as well.

Thanks I was curious as to why this was happening also, your explanation sounds dead on.

Evidently you can't even believe the FRA/GOV website and the documents they publish.

The phone mystery. The other night as we sat around our campfire, someone drank all of our wine, so yesterday we drove in to Cape Girardeau to replenish our supply. While we were in town my smart phone got smart again and knew our exact location.
While we were in town we checked out The Landing RV Park. I was unimpressed and it was mostly seasonal or permanent campers.
After getting back to our campsite and putting away our “groceries” I checked my phone and once again it was lost, it thought we were in Hillsboro, MO. Hillsboro is about 80 or 90 miles north of the state park. This morning the phone has my location as Alto Pass, IL.

BUGS!! Yesterday afternoon we were inundated with Lady Bugs. They seem to be attracted to white RV’s. Those darn things have no problem getting into a trailer. I am so glad we have a central vacuum system, it makes sucking them up from the ceiling so easy.

Those black dots you see are the lady bugs.

TRAINS! Last night we had two trains pass by, one at 2:31AM and the other at 4:07AM. One train blew his horn normally but the other didn’t blow his at all. I’ll never complain about train noise in Goshen again.

Even with the trains and the bugs we are having a great time camping. So far the weather has been perfect. Although we aren’t having a spectacular fall, many of the trees have been cooperating and are becoming beautiful.

We are cutting our camping trip short and we will winterize the trailer this morning and head for home. The state park issued a fire ban due to drought conditions yesterday couple that with the Lady Bug infestation and the trains passing by and it’s more than we want to deal with. The Lady Bugs have already caused a number of other campers to leave earlier than planned.

We camp at Greenbrier River Campground in WV. A coal train runs about every hour across the river on the other bank. We think it is cool. That same track runs through the tunnel created by John Henry.

Working directly and in-directly on a couple of government sites- out of date information is the norm.

We’re back home. Trailer is winterized and I thought we had taken care of most of the lady bugs that got in. When we got back to the storage lot and opened the trailer to empty the fridge, SURPRISE, lady bugs everywhere. Tomorrow I’ll go out with a couple of bug foggers to kill all of them.

I'll bet you're absolutely right. Last time we had this happen was in 2010 and even after bug fogging we were still finding ladybugs in the trailer the following year, all year long.

Oakman- be careful of bug foggers!! I suggest just vacuum every few
hours until you get the most of them.
Foggers used to have butane as the propellant. Donno what they use now.
This can create an explosion hazard in a small area like an RV.

Vacuum or dust buster is the safest way.

The European Lady Beetle is attracted to white objects especially in the
late afternoon sun. Something about how they normally nest in Europe.
A white trailer or an old white clapboard farm house with lots of cracks can
be inundated with them this time of year.
We had a bad experience in Obannon Woods state park IN a couple years
ago just about this time of year. We ran our dust buster down and had
to resort to a cup of water and trying to catch them when they dropped
off the ceiling after we nudged them with a finger.
Plus that trip we had an invasion of ground bees!! We were glad to go home that trip!

Thanks for the heads up KyDan. I'm not too worried about an explosion since our trailer will be on the storage lot with the battery disconnected and no shore power. Nothing to spark an explosion.
Vacuuming will get the obvious ladybugs but not the one that are still well hidden.

Don't worry, the ones from the Nigerian bankers and attorneys telling you about all of the dead oil executives with no heirs and wanting to split millions of dollars with you are absolutely true.

After all, if you can't trust a complete stranger wanting to steal millions of dollars and smuggle it out of the country to you, then whom can you trust?
