Traveling to south Texas or Louisiana.

We are planning a trip to the south central US this June. I was wondering if there are some "gotta go" camping spots that are kid and camper friendly? We will only have 4 days so I wanted to limit to Texas or Louisiana or I guess Oklahoma. Any thoughts appreciated. Ohhh. The kids are 21, 17, 13, 7 and don't forget the most important one 1. Thank you.

Cajun Palms in Henderson, LA. It's on the I10 corridor in "Cajun Country". It's a resort type park with many activities for kids and adults. There are many sights to see in the area.

I'll give a plug for Texas. South Padre Island KOA or Admiralty Resort, San Antonio; next door to Sea World.

We love Lake Fausse near St. Martinsville, LA. It is on the edge of the Atchafalaya swamp and near New Iberia, LA and MacIlhenny Farm where they make Tabasco.

WEMig,

We lived in Slidell and then Madisonville for years. We moved to northern VA a few years ago for work, but plan on going back to south Louisiana some day. At least I can have live crawfish flown up here.

They are just coming into season now, but expensive.

WEMig, are you familiar with Pioneer Acadian Village in Breaux Bridge? I was raised in NI and left La. in 84. Live in N.C. now but still love my old town and still have friends and family there.

If you choose Cajun Palms you may want to book early. They fill up pretty quick during the summer. I agree Lake Fausse Point is a nice park, just the road to get down there will beat you to death. Palmetto State Park in Abbeville is nice too. If you stop off in Holly Beach, DO NOT stay at the Cajun Riviera campground. I have a thread titled 50 to 30 adapter + 50 amp 220 shore receptacle + 110 camper = NOT GOOD that will explain why I would avoid the Cajun Riviera Campground.
