Trip around Lake Superior
We are planning to leave Iowa in mid-Sept. and head north to Duluth and then on up into Canada and around Lake Superior.
I know my stops in MN., MI., and WI., I have no idea what I am going to find in Ontario as I round the lake.
Has anyone taken this 1500 mile loop and if so can you recommend good camping spots in Canada.

Its been years ago since I made that trip. We stayed in Thunder Bay and Wawa. Along the north shore was a lot of wilderness. Thunder Bay had a neat fort. I'm sure some of our of our Canadian can tell us more. If continue in Mich. to Copper Harbor you will pass my home. Welcome to the U.P. of Michigan.

We have done it on our (Snowmobiles) but I don't think you want to stay at some of the places we stayed at! We only stay on the south shore of Superior now in the (Warmer?) months if that is possible?  Youroo!!

I can recommend a couple of places that we've camped on the north shore in Ontario. Rainbow Fall Provincial Park just west of Schreiber and the Rabbit Blanket campground in Lake Superior Provincial Park just south of Wawa.

We enjoy camping at the KOA in Thunderbay. This CG won the KOA campground of the two years ago. There is also a nice CG just west of Wawa. There are also many provincial CG in the area. I would recommend that you fill up with fuel before leaving Wawa. When we took the trip 2 years ago the fuel station between Wawa and Sault Ste. Marie was closed and we ran out of gas.

We just did the U.S. version of Lake Superior north shore from Duluth to Thunder Bay over the 4th of July. Remarkable trip! We stayed at Tettegouche State Park and did day trips. Have fun!

KOA at Thunder Bay is an ok place to stay in that area and take trips from. Pancake Bay Provencial Park is very nice with a great beach.

It all depends what you want for services in a CG as to where you will stay. Provincial CG offer power and no water at site. They also only offer a dump station and do not have sewers at the site. If you want a full service site then you will have to stay at private CG.

Just did a trip around the Great Lakes ourselves. In Ontario, we enjoyed Sleeping Giant Provincial Park near Thunder Bay. Also, Agawa Bay in Lake Superior Provincial Park was nice.

Have a great trip, we just got back from up there and had a great time with the grand daughters. Should be starting to cool down up there now.

We did the Lake Superior trip a few years ago. Camped at Sleeping Giant and at Neys Provincial Parks. Neys was absolutly beautiful, our site was on the beach facing south. Both sunrise and sunset over the water. Picked fresh blue berries in the morning for our breakfast. Power and dumpsite. If I remember correctly parks close at end of September. Very nice municipal campground at Grand Marais, MN, full hookups right in town. Access to the Boundry Waters via Gunflint trail and boat to Grand Isle. Fort at Thunder Bay worth the stop. If you return thru the UP of Michigan, stop at Munising, MI at the city RV Park. Great spot on the beach on Lake Superior. Take the Pictured Rocks boat trip amd visit Grand Island. Munising is an annual fall trip for us, 10 days to two weeks on the beach, fresh Lake Superior Whitefish and tours of the waterfalls in the area. Sunsets over the water are great.

Curious to know where you are staying in MN? How many times are you moving camp? Miles in between?
