U.P. of MI

Going for 9 days in August. TENTING. East to West, end to end.

1. Kewl CGs near Mackinac/St. Ignus: (usually go to Millcreek, but looking for options.

2. Tequamina Falls: Have been to state CG there. Anything else really nice?

3. Munising/Pictured Rocks. Any place East or West of Munising within 20-30 mins that is a really nice CG?

4. Porcuppine Mountain/Lake of Cloud: Never been. Where's the best camping.

5. Anywhere a good Cntry/Western place to kick your heels up?

6. Did I miss any "must sees"?

Love water front or access. Love large sites. Love peace and quiet at night.

Thanks for any help planning!

I know. That's why I reposted it.
It's #4 on the agenda. Can you recommend a good CG in the area?
Never been.

You may want to spend a night or 2 in the Keweenaw Pennisula. It's where I live. Lots of campgrounds on or near water. Some cool things to check out around here too!

we stayed at the state campground Porkys during our 2 week camping trip, just 2 nights and the sites were pretty good, but the ass 3 down were burning trees (whole trees) in his pit and his kids running around crazy, needless to say it was not enjoyable

2 we stayed at a private in nuberry real nice and quiet, see the bears at oswalds
3. stayed at tourist campground in musining best campground we ever stayed, right on the water 25 feet from the back of the camper (loved the area going back this summer)

make your way to garden and stayed at the state and went to the old town FT wilkins I think

bodzcampers,
Ft. Wilkins State park, Copper Harbor is a super place to camp. There's an old civil war era fort, light houses, a tourist town, and a National Park with copper mining history along the way. I worked the 4 country area delivering snack foods for 36 years and can give you details on hot spots. PM me if you have questions. If you were coming up later in August, I'd be back from Goshen and at my cottage with my TT on Lake Surerior for camping.

So many great campgrounds in the UP. You must go to Fort Wilkins and Fayette. Both are just such amazing places. I will be honest when I say I don't understand why people like Mill Creek. I went once as a kid and we could only have a campfire in a little metal dish. You should check out Wilderness State Park instead. It's. 10 min drive to the bridge and beaches there on Lake Michigan are beautiful. We were there 4 nights last summer.

I forgot to add we are spending a few nights at Muskallonge Lake. I'm really excited to take the kids and my husband to Lake Superior.

I am doing 9 days in Brimley in June. A dozen or so family members have cabins on Lake Superior in Brimley, MI. We will be setting up on my grandparents property about 300 yards west of Brimley State Park. Brimley State Park would be a nice place for you to stay. I lived in the UP for almost 3 years in the mid 90's and spent a couple weeks every year since I was born in the Sault Sainte Marie area, and there isn't a place up there I don't like. Enjoy your trip!

Ask a local about the waterfalls in the area around or near Munising. I has been a while since I was there but I think there are a couple near by.

Camping on UP

Don't forget Copper Harbor! Wilkins St Park is a great place to camp. Marquette we used to camp up north of there in Big Bay, close to Lake Superior.

You will enjoy it. Those 9 days of August are when it stops snowing in the up. I'm a troll from under the bridge. We head to the up every few years a great place. Don't forget to eat some pasties
