WalMart in Marquette

We are traveling to B.C. and going through the States. We plan on staying at WalMarts along the way, the first one is in Marquette, Wisconsin. Being the first time for us (at a WalMart) are there any suggestions or tips we need to know about? I do plan on using an inverter generator.

WalMart doesn't provide any electricity or water, so be prepared for that.

The few times we've stayed on a WalMart parking lot we always:
1) Call in advance to speak to the manager and get their name and approval (some cities do not allow overnight parking of campers on parking lots);
2) Find out where on the parking lot they prefer us to be;
3) We always spend at least a little money with them and let the manager on duty know who we are...and say "thanks".

One night we stayed on a WalMart parking lot and in the middle of the night woke up to what sounded like lawn mowers running for hours all around us. Finally about 3 a.m. I decided to take our new pup out to a grassy spot and was approached by a man. It's a bit unnerving to have a total stranger walk up to you that time of the morning at the far end of a WalMart parking lot.

He asked if that was our rig and I confirmed.

He then asked if it was possible for us to pull it forward about 50 feet so they could finish striping the parking lot. As I looked around I realized he entire parking lot had been re-striped except for the area we were blocking.

I moved it with my DW still in bed and within a half hour quietness (relative) returned to the WalMart parking lot.

Yes, the first stop and crossing at the Sault. We are looking at 3 1/2 days from Ontario to B.C. Second stop is Grand Forks

So you are talking about Marquette Michigan and not Wisconsin.

There is a new Walmart, west on Highway 2 just as you are exiting Grand Forks heading towards the airport. Very accessible and a huge parking lot. The other Walmart is across the street from the mall, much smaller parking lot and busier.
If you like there is also a Minnesota State Park, on the Minnesota side in East Grand Forks. It's within the city but easy to access from same Hwy 2 on east side of city. It's a very roomy state park with both full hook ups(most sites) and some non. It's called Red River State Recreation area.
