Wanted, lake camping southern MI, norther OH

we always camp in northern MI , and want to go a little south for the warmer water lakes to swim trying to find a nice private campground with a nice beach , no swimmers itch.. we live just north of flint and don't mind traveling 2-3 hrs south/ southwest Mi just for the weekend..

This place may not meet you needs, but have you looked at Lake Huron Camp Ground. We go there about once a year for a long weekend or so. Campground is pretty devoid of trees and not my favorite camp in the state. But, it's not too far from us. Not lots to do in the Port Sanilac area, but it is pretty there. They have a beach area and a lake. You can rent golf carts, boats, etc.

Walnut Hills out by Durand, Krystal Lake, in Vassar, Haas Lake by Brighton to name a few. We go to outdoor adventures in Davison, but it is a membership only campground.

we belong to outdoor adventures but want a change, we do davison once or twice and never do standish and hit westbranch a lot, and the last 9 days were at state campground up in the U.P and gaylord north area and people are rude, plus swimming in huron, MI and superior are out of the question

We have stayed out at Davison 3 times this year at 3 weeks each, we stay because it is close to home and I can still drive to work from there. It was nice until school got out, this week someone drove through the fence at the pool hurting 2 people severely. A bunch of white trash people in there this year. A big change from last year!! I might sell my membership, we will have to see!!

We just stayed at Groveland oaks right there by Mt. Holly and couldn't be happier. Very nice campground with a nice little lake with a water slide, nice walking trail and plenty for kids to do. Tried outdoor adventure one since it's less then 10 min from home and won't go back for many reasons. Another is sterling state park on lake Erie just outside Monroe. We'll be there in a few weeks.

Forgot about that one. Holly recreation area is also nice, then there is also seven lakes in Fenton

I drive past Groveland everyday to work if I take dixie instead of 75, but they are always full, we made res for this weekend at sterling SP . Since we always have things to explore we decided we wanted a few trips of just hanging on the beach and not go anywhere...

Groveland is basically first come first serve. We go sun afternoon between 2-3 and as soon as the people leaving are gone you get your spot. The front might look full but there are a lot of sites on the backside.

We stayed at Haas Lake this year and enjoyed it. We also did Greenwood Acres near Jackson, lots of seasonal sites but still have couple hundred nightly sights. Lots to do as the seasonal sights keep bands and other stuff going on all the time. We are going to Barton Lake Jellystone Park in Fremont Indiana this weekend. For you just take I69 just over line in Indiana and then west about 2-3 miles. Lots for kids to do and only about 1/2 hour to Amish country (Shipsewanna).
