Spring Fever

Spring fever strikes early...

Swung by the storage lot to visit with 'Lonesome Dove' yesterday. Temps here have been in the 70s this week; about 10 degreees higher than normal. Enough to give me the bug to get ready for spring... Think we'll give it another 6 weeks or so before de-winterizing to get it ready to go. We're pretty busy of late, so like it or not, we'll have some patience...

Made April reservations again for Blanco SP to catch the annual vintage car show. Wife and I have kinda laid claim to that pretty little place. We'll make another state park trip or two, most-likely, in March. Thinking of Bastrop SP as our next stop. Anyone been there? Whisky???

Getting the Shakes bad....Finally got a real dose of winter here in St. Louis. Still no snow to speak of but cold. Made a trip to see the camper yesterday after work to check on things...It almost hooked itself up to my truck.
Spent the last few hours at work being non productive trying to plan some State park trips....Trying to get one of the big holidays. Few other places on the hit list.

It was -9 here yesterday morning. The TT is fine; I go out every couple of weeks to take a peek at everything.

We're heading out in exactly 9 days for Palm Springs, CA. Flying...not driving. High of 73 predicted the day we arrive. Not 82 degree swing! Can't wait....

As a retiree of Texas Parks & Wildlife, I can tell you that Bastrop SP is or was very beautiful before all the wildfires of fall 2011. I know much has been reopened and green has replaced much of the black. there was a big planting program to replenish the pines that were lost. I would check the park website what camping is available.

Next trip

In keeping with our plan to now stay local after a RT from Texas to NY and a RT from Texas to CA, we are planning our first trip this year from Cleburne, Tx to Glen Rose, Tx after we get our FW back from our dealer in Cleburne.

Probably next month.
