Wichita to Apache Junction

Hi
I'm looking for advice on a route from Derby KS (Wichita) to Apache Junction AZ in November. We are pulling a 35 ft trailer with a 350 Ford Super Duty (gas). This will be our first really long trip where we need to stop over on the way out. Looking to avoid any roads that might be bad in November. Thanking you in advance for your input.

I40 to Holbrook, AZ to Payson, AZ to highway 87 to the Bush highway to Usery pass road and follow Goggle maps from there. Shouldn't have snow yet, but follow the weather closely anyway.

Be aware of the mountains coming down from Holbrook. They get kind of sketchy in some places. Just a heads up.

I agree with lbrjet.....and also, since you're on I-40,,,,you can stop by The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest just east of Holbrook. The Painted Desert will leave you speechless. The Meteor Crater is in that area too, and it's well worth the detour. There's a nice RV park behind the truck stop coming from the east into Tucumcari, NM on the north side of the interstate if you're looking to crash near the end of one of your days.

Don't go to Canyon Lake

When u get to Apache Junction Junction, do not, I repeat, do not try to tow your 35' down into Canyon Lake. We did it 3 years ago w a 35' & im still having nightmares about it.
