2 keyed locks on coach door ?
Sorry if this has been covered before. Our entry door to the coach has 2 locks. The one on the left is the one we use. The other one we have no key for. Wonder what this lock is for ?? Maybe like a dead bolt ?

Usually, one is a latch lock and the other is a deadbolt. They are also usually keyed alike. If they both don't work with one key, there is probably something defective.

X2. If you can't lock/unlock it with the same key there might be something wrong with the lock. Can you put the key all the way in like you can with the other lock?

Yes I believe so but the key doesn't turn.

Did you buy this unit new or used?
If used it is possible the owner changed one lock but not the other.
Spray some kind of penetrating oil into it and let it sit for awhile then try the key again

I'll try that after work today and see if that works. Got the unit used but only a few months old.

Age notwithstanding, I changed out both locks on my 2014 due to a recall I had it about 2 months I think.

My salesman told me that they are both keyed so the deadbolt key will work on both the latch lock and the deadbolt. But he also said that we should always lock the deadbolt because all people that have worked at an RV sales place would have a key that will open the latch lock but not the deadbolt. They key them this way so while on the lot, everyone can have access that needs access with only one key.

True and correct.
And that would include the newer ones involved with the recall.
There are options out there if you want to pony up the bucks.

Will the door key slide into the other one? On my V-Cross PO had broke a key in the dead bolt and the door key wouldnt slide all the way in. I disassembled the lock but the cylinder was fubar, I intended on replacing and re keying but sold it before I could get it done. If you bought it from a dealer see it they will "fix" it

My '02 Georgetown uses two separate keys. They're significantly different.

FYI "picking" an RV lock takes to long.

At what point in model years did one key do both locks. We have two keys. Always only tried each key in its own lock. Wonder if just one key will do both locks. We have a 2013.

Can you see any difference between the two by holding them together?

They are not keyed alike...not sure what the point to that would be.
One key is for the latch. A master key exists for that.
Second key is for the deadbolt. That does not have a master.
PS. This is a Forester sub-forum. Not the same locks as trailers in most cases.
