No, Cummins/Onan will increase the fuel pressure to help with hard start but with the increase of fuel pressure comes fuel seeping out of fuel pump gaskets. I have an Onan 4K in my older Class C and never had a problem until I bought my 2013 Forester. Unfortunately Cummins/Onan will not replace the fuel pump until it starts leaking fuel or will not start because of the fuel pump. Contact your local Cummins/Onan dealer; they might take care of your problem because of all the attention this issue has been getting.

They also replaced my carburetor, because of slow starting.

This what i found on a onan parts web site. The new part number is 149-2311-01 which supersedes 149-2311-00 and 149-2311
If you look into your generator and can manage to see the white label on the pump you can see if you have the new pump or not.
I pick up my 2014 3171ds later this week and have been searching the net for any issues to have addressed prior to leaving on our zigzag trip from coast to coast.

How many times do you have to prime before it starts? Mine takes from three to five times on first start after not using for a couple weeks.

I just started mine after sitting for one month. I primed it once and it cranked about 10-15 seconds before starting. But, my RV is located in South, Florida and the temperatures here are mild. My unit a new carburetor and replacement fuel pump installed.

Great info, and when I pick up my Forester
in May that will be one of the items to
check.

Thanks again for the heads up

Onan 2013 & 2014

No, it is a problem with Onan 2013 & 2014 gasoline generators.

Has anybody replaced one off these fuel pumps themselves? I'm thinking it would be more convenient to buy the part and do it myself rather than pack up and drive an hour away, leave it for days and then go back and get it.
