I am not sure it would make a difference if you had the exact can the stain came from 2 years down the road. wood stain tends to fade so quickly that after just a few years the original tint will not match anyway. Just saying, we had to repair our island in our home a few years after built and it was a noticeable difference.

To hopefully help you out though, I would suggest you contact your dealer and just order ins some stain for repair. Then you will have it.

We got some touchup paint for our trailer from the dealer. It had the paint code on it and I looked it up, turns out it is a older Mazda automotive color.

The wood you are using the stain on as well as the application process have big effects as well. Even if you have the exact stain product it may not come out looking the same and you will need to finesse it a little during application and clear coating.

Yep. That's the reason last time I did this on the Tiffin I got small samples of different woods. Did each with the same stain, then each of those with different finish lacquers until I found a good match (Tiffin uses lacquers). Lots of experimenting, but once you find it, you're good to go for any additions. As long as I get close, I'm fine. I'll start with the Gunstock 231 on some scraps and see where it goes from there. Thanks for all the replies.

Those are Maple doors with a cherry stain.... We bought those doors from Middlebury Hardwood Products. It is typically a custom blend. They send us 4-5 doors...we say "lighter-darker, more red, more brown, etc"

This years doors we went to a cherry wood (to get more grain) and another custom blend from Adorn. It is easier to find a wall board we like and match color to that...then to get the wall board people to match a door.

Good to know. In referring to "this year's doors", mine is the 2013, built in late October 2012, so in the picture I posted on page 1 of this thread, you're saying that is maple? Maybe I missed this production change to cherry. In reality, on paper mine is a 2013, to the eye, it's a 2012, paint job and all. Dealer supposively called FR to verify the tank size since it was upped to 39 gallons at some point, but I'm yet to test. Supposed to be 39 gallon gray / black tanks. That was going to be a deal breaker for me if it had the smaller tanks. Is there a way I can verify that with Forest River?? When did the 39 gallon tanks go into production? Don't trust the dealer THAT much. I'm thinking I'm better off taking one of the doors to a paint / stain shop to try to match. I know what you mean about the wall board and understand FR's approach to that. Easier to change the stain.

I recall seeing the serial number and manufacture date for the first unit that got bigger tanks on the Sunseeker forum. Can probably search over there. I think jamiller45 posted it. I might have it scratched down on a piece of paper at home if you can't find it.

We went to the 39 gallon tanks back in 2008/09 You have nothing to worry about there. The wood was sort of a running change. The match was getting too far off and we wanted a little more grain. Only a subtle difference. We also went to more of a line glaze.

I remember reading in the 2011 / 2012 brochures that they were 30 gallon, then the latest brochure said 39, which is why I started questioning the dealer. There's a few posts on it somewhere on here. What did I miss.

I found it. Post by paulmlac called "Tank sizes now larger?". One of the posts from jamiller45 said first one went in in November 2011 and according to some of the visual descriptions, I definitely have the 39's.
