2014 3171DS Charging issues

Hello, All

I just bought my 3171ds a few days ago and I am having a few issue which are all probably user error(s). I hope someone out there can enlighten me on a few of these things. My first issue is charging I have the RV on shore power over night and the batteries are not charging (switch by the door is in the on position) I also have been unable to get the Onan 4k generator to start up no lights on the start switch at the generator the battery boost wont help (switch on the driver seat). The gen was running a few days ago with out any issues. I have checked all of the fuses and all of the breakers all are good. Any help would be great!

Battery disconnect switch ?

Possible that one or both of your batteries are bad. My 2013 3011 came with 2 batteries and one of them had a bad cell. You can test yourself with a hydrometer or take them out and have them tested.

Thank you for the response I am going to get a load tester to see if the battery's are in working order. I guess my new purchase may need new batteries but I hope not.

If you have a multimeter and on shore power, converter should charge your batteries at around 13.5 volts.

Thank you all for your help. I think we will start with the purchase of new batteries. I am looking at replacing them with a new set of the EverStart group 29 batteries from Walmart.

If the batteries were dead or very low and you connected to shore power, you could ave blown the fuses between the Convertor and the batteries. They are there to protect against incorrectly connecting batteries, but the current supplied to dead or near dead batteries can blow them. The batteries will drain during storage so need to be charged periodically or kept on a battery tender.

Are the fuses your referring to the ones on the inverted? If not where are is the fuse you are referring too located?

So now to replace the batteries... What should I buy 2 12 volts group 29's or 4, 6 volt deep cycle batteries.

I bought our RV from a private seller who only had it for about 3 months. I did replace the batteries and it was a good thing I did. I think the previous owner did not care for them too well or maybe it was the dealership but the factory batteries were bulging at the sides. It was just a safer bet to replace them with the Walmart group 29 for 99.00 each they also come with a 2 year free replacement warranty. I think maybe in the future when I get everything sorted in the RV I will switch from the group 29 to 2 banks of 6 volt batteries but for now all is working like a dream. Thank you for all for your suggestions and the help. I am pretty sure this will not be the last post from me.

Ours wouldn't charge full by shore power because of some loose bolt causing an intermittent connection. It ruined the batteries.

I found the same issue the other day it was the power wire going into the central battery control center. I will be doing a DIY to correct this issue the manufacture should have done right the first time.
