Joshua, How many is a "small amount of units" ? And would it be covered by Ford Warranty? Planning to order a 3050S/3051S in December and hope the issue is resolved by then.
Thanks

According to the Original poster in the Jayco forum, they found two problems. First, 2 of the three drive shaft sections were out of balance. Fixed, but did not help. Second, it seems that the extended chassis frame was out of line so the drive train did not line up correctly. It will be interesting to see how that works out as I assume there are not a lot of companies doing the chassis work???

As i remember most 3rd members are not directly lined up with the trans. Ujoints can take care of this(like when a entire rear differental goes up and down) sounds like a pinion angle issue

Is the halt of production using 2016 cut-away chassis models industry wide? Sounds like every RV manufacturer and Ford is in on the problem. What's this going to do to the fall RV shows showing next years line with such little class C inventories?
Following this with interest even though we cancelled our order and are taking from dealer stock.

2016 E450 viberation

I figured I would add my 2cents. I am a Senior Master Ford Tech, working on all from the smallest cars to F650-750. What the average public do not realize is drive lines are designed with very specific working angles from the center line of engine/trans output shaft to the centerline of the rear diff. pinion. As you lengthen the chassis the angles change and you have to compensate buy changing driveline placement. Another factor is the driveshaft speed, when the 5 speed to 6 speed trans was used the shat speed changed. There is so much that goes into engineering than just putting it together. Take for instance not everyone knows that all rear ends has a gear whine/sing to them. It is just set up so the gear sing is in the higher rpm/mph range. I have had some rollbacks/ flat bed wrecker that I have had to change the gear ratio to speedup/slowdown the driveshaft speed to stop a viberation. I hope I did not bore you but helped with thoughts.

So cotton65 what is your idea of a high speed vibration? Rear end set up correctly will not whine. JMHO of coarse

There is a lot to take into consideration, the extended chassis drive line angles and gear ratio. There is equipment to test rotational viberations to get you into a general area for diag. As for the rear end question/whine. If set up properly it will be at a frequency, higher rpm so you do not hear it. Here is a example of the analyzer
DVA (Driveline Vibration Analyzer) - Advanced System

Eaton DVA PC Diagnostic Software
The Eaton Advanced Vehicle Vibration Analyzer is a powerful vehicle development tool. Organizations involved in the engineering and manufacturing of vehicles, suspensions, tires, wheels or driveline components can more effectively troubleshoot end-of-line vibration issues and field complaints with the Advanced DVA’s comprehensive vibration analysis

I saw a reply about Ford warranty. If the chassis/drive line is modified in any way Ford does not have warranty it, up to the dealer working on it, we always did.

cotton we are talking about a drive line vibration. DVA?? Take that bad boy to an old fashion experience repair shop and the boys will figure it out. DVA? Ford and F/R have not been able to fix the problem. Must not have one of things. Don't over think the issue.
