Are you sure its a three speed trans?? Ford hasn't used them in years most likely a 5 speed.

You have a 5 gears in your transmission. What you see on your cluster is the 3 speeds you can shift between. That does not necessarily mean you have a 3 speed transmission.

Here are the differences in the gear ratios. On another forum it looks like Jayco is already delivering units on the 2016 according to one of the users. He verified his Vin has the G in the tenth digit which indicates a 2016

2015
First Gear Ratio (:1)3.11 (3.11 min/3.11max)
Second Gear Ratio (:1)2.22 (2.22 min/2.22max)
Third Gear Ratio (:1)1.55 (1.55 min/1.55max)
Fourth Gear Ratio (:1)1.00 (1.0 min/1.0max)
Fifth Gear Ratio (:1)0.71 (0.71 min/0.71max)
Reverse Ratio (:1)2.88 (2.88 min/2.88max)

2016
(5.0 min/6.0max)
Trans Description Cont.Automatic w/OD
First Gear Ratio (:1)3.97, 3.11 (3.11 min/3.97max)
Second Gear Ratio (:1)2.32, 2.22 (2.22 min/2.32max)
Third Gear Ratio (:1)1.52, 1.55 (1.52 min/1.55max)
Fourth Gear Ratio (:1)1.15, 1.00 (1.0 min/1.15max)
Fifth Gear Ratio (:1)0.86, 0.71 (0.71 min/0.86max)
Sixth Gear Ratio (:1)0.67 (0.67 min/0.67max)
Reverse Ratio (:1)3.13, 2.88 (2.88 min/3.13max)

I am assuming the above is for both the 5 speed (min) and 6 speed (max)

Also, if you want to print your window sticker, here is the link:

Rather than just have a Window Sticker you can download all the info about a Ford vehicle at their ETIS website. Click Here. ETIS gave me a three page report in my C-Max's build info. Make sure you click on the Minor Features on the right side of the screen to get all the details. Use your Ford VIN not the FR coach VIN.

Well, that's good news. When i saw 1-2-3 on the PRNDL I figured it was a 3-speed.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out my VIN and find out more about my chassis.

The first 2016 chassis will hit the lot sometime later this year, anything before that will be on a 2015 chassis.

Curious if the 2016 6 spd will get better gas mileage than the 2015 5 spd, and if so how much?

Top gear is only .04 higher on the six speed so I doubt it will make much of a difference on an 8 mpg average. However, 1st gear is significantly lower (.86 I think) so its off the line power should be much better. Also a downshift from 6th to 4th is .15 lower so passing/climbing should be better as well.

Here at the factory we haven't heard anything about a transmission change. I checked Ford's website and it says all cut away chassis' will have the 6 speed transmission.

If it does effect the gas mileage it wont be by much. The idea of the 6 speed would be to improve the driving capability.

Wish I would have waited a few more months to order to get the six speed. Guess I will have to go to the Ford Dealership and have the tranny swapped out for the new one. Like that's ever going to happen! LOL
