2016 Forester, gas lifts for bed board
Has anyone installed gas lifts for the bed board?
If so, what size of lifts did you use, 30# 40# etc?
What length of lifts did you use?

We'd like to know, too! Especially after adding a memory foam mattress that weighs more.

Assuming that you are looking for something that will address holding up the bed to get access to storage, water tank and or behind breakers. Are you looking for a solution to just hold the bed up or too help lift the bed and also hold it up?

I want to add lifts that will both help lift and hold the bed board up.
I added lifts to the small travel trailer we had before getting the Forester. Want to do the same thing, but thought it would help to know what others used.

Question on changes to this forum why are we seeing ads that do not pertain to the RV community? Its is very annoying and ruining this forum which WAS a great place to exchange info.

I also have looked at bed lift devices. I cannot speak to any product as I have not moved forward.
This is something that I bookmarked back when I was looking. It had choices that left me wondering what I needed. It may help you as a starting point.

I added them to my bed, used 60# struts. Bought all the pieces from Amazon. I think 2 60# struts would be plenty, but I don't have a memory foam mattress so it's just a guess.

I measured the length of the strut and ordered on line a 100 pound rated pair. They were very easy to install.

Amazon has what you need. I ordered 100# gas struts. Measure the length of your Gas Struts and order the pair. You won't have any problem with 100# strut but you could get by with 60# struts.

Three answers:
1. Ads displayed can come from cookies on your device.
2. Ads displayed may be considered "Promotional Consideration" by the hosting entity. (This Forum is not connected to any RV manufacturer or supplier)
3. It still IS a great place to exchange info.

I installed 20" ,100 lb struts where there were none. 100 lbs is overkill for my 3" mattress.

This might help select what you need.

Added a Purple Mattress with
We replaced that crappy cheap mattress that comes with our 5th wheel. We traded out our 80lb lifts for 110lbs lifts from Amazon. We used the same fittings.
We also changed out the wood platform under it for a thicker one that fits the whole mattress. It works fantastic. No regrets!
Good luck!

I have not had time to do a search for good struts yet but I'm sure you'll get some good recommendations here. In the meantime I attached a small wood strip to the underside of the bed just to provide a support for when we need to work under the bed. We don't intend on using under the bed for any storage and hopefully we will not have to lift it often so for now it does the job.

3011ds struts
How were you going to mount the struts to the bed when the bed moves and the base stays still ? Or am I missing something?

In our 3011 that is the question. I think they make struts on tracks just for that purpose and at some point I might invest some time to figure it out.

3011 moving platform
We have a 2015 3011DS Forester. Like the last two posts, the wood platform that the mattress sits on moves with the bedroom slide. I've got two weak rotator cups and would love some assist when lifting the bed. I've had to get in there a few times to replace the battery convertor/charger (I was bad ! !) and work on the fresh tank. Would love to find something that works.

We have the 3011DS too and would really like to find a good workable solution for this
