3010ds Cable Not Working

Hello,
I am new to the forum and new to RVing. We just bought a new to us 2014 Sunseeker 3010ds and the cable does not work. We have tried to use cable in two separate parks and two separate coax cables.

Any ideas or suggestions on this issue?

Ahh help would be appreciated.

did you turn connect the park cable to the cable input port?
did you turn the antenna booster off?
did you do a channel scan?
does over the air work?

if OTA is working then most likely cable is not working. you need to turn the antenna ON (green light is on) for OTA and OFF (green light is off) for cable.

now where is it? who knows? they put them in many different places. but most likely it is on the wall behind one of the tv's. there will be a coax coming off the antenna booster to the tv. the antenna booster will be the same size as a standard electrical faceplate. there is a little push button the turns the little led indicator light on and off. take a look and turn it off then do a cable scan again and see if that solves the problem.

Since your OTA signal is working, that means the antenna booster button is ON. So cable signal won't work.

Ok thank you . I’ll look for the booster. There is a hub below the main tv that switches between tv, aux, dvd, etc.. I just about wore that thing out trying to run cable station scans on the tv.

I do know that the original owner had Dish Network hooked up and that apparently worked.

But I will attempt to find the booster.

Thank you. I’ll look for the booster. Let’s hope it’s easy to find. It’s gotta be right? LOL

look behind the tv to start with. or if you have multiple tv's look behind all of them. here's a way to look. go to each tv you have and find the coax cable that is attached to that tv. then follow that coax until it either enters the wall or is attached to the antenna booster.

Good advice. Thank you. I’ll let you know what I find.

Get yourself a 50 foot piece of cable plug it directly to tv and try a scan this will rule out everything in between then work back from there,

In my 2019 3010ds the booster is above the entry door in the cabinet on an outlet/cable plate. Don’t know if that’s whey it is in the ‘14s

On our 2012 Solera, it is in the cabinet above the door, integrated in the same plate as the tv’s 12 volt “cigar lighter” connector and the antenna coax connector. The booster button and its green “on” led are TINY and are hidden behind the 12 volt connector and the antenna coax. VERY hard to see?

By the way... it's not the RV booster... it's a booster for the signal to the TV from the OverTheAir (OTA) antenna so it must be off for cable (and/or satellite TV).

Cable, splitters, connections

I have a 2014 Sierra 5th wheel. Bought it new and had crappy reception on 2 of the 3 TVs. 3rd TV was just ok. Finally got sick of watching snow. Traced cable back from the TVs. Found the following: 1 cable was bad. Maybe had a bad kink in it somewhere because it was on a slide out. I replaced the cable. Replaced the splitters I found since they use the cheapest parts putting these systems in. ALL of the connections at the splitters were loose! Literally only 1-3 turns on the connectors. Same was found at the couplers after removing the OTA/Cable face plate! I removed the face plate of the main panel where the park cable connects. Guess what? Loose connection on the coupler!! I added a power amplifier inline prior to main face plate connection. The 2 TVs were 80% better but not completely clear. I could live with it though. A year later, a tree branch cracked the skylight above the shower. Upon removing the inner trim to replace the skylight, I found another tucked away cable splitter! And yes, the connectors were all loose!! Replaced the splitter and tightened all connectors. WALA!! All TVs are clear now!I know they don't hire the best craftsmen to put these things together but damn!! For the money you pay for these things, you shouldn't have to go through such crap to get things to work!

Usually looks like one of these. Tiny off-center button turns LED off and on. LED on is for antenna.
LED off is for cable. Click image for larger version

With the booster off, be sure TV is set to scan for Cable channels. Had to rent a cable box to use cable in the RV park we are currently in.

At our campground you must use a cable box. There's no charge but the office never remembers to give you one unless you know to ask.

Wink Still cannot locate the booster switch

Well, I had an opportunity the past couple of weekends to check out the cable situation and there is still no solution to this issue.

1) I called Forrest River and spoke to a technician and they could not locate the booster switch on the 2014. They did note that it was behind the main tv but on their plans that tv can actually swivel up and allows to check behind the tv. On this model year the tv is hard mounted.

2) I tried to remove the tv selector switch box beneath the tv but the connections were all good there.

It is unbelievably frustrating that this is such a simple thing and there is no way to see where the switch may be.

I will continue to look for it and I am not giving up.
