3011ds soon to be delivered

Hi, I love these forums.

I am trading a 2016 Jayco class c for a 2018 3011ds promised in a month.
I have a couple questions about the new rig that I hope can be answered.
One: what size are the tires, I have an unmounted spare that I carry and I hope it's the same size. also what brand tire does Forester use or does it vary?

Two: I like to have a full time camera looking at my Toad. I installed one on my last RV and was justified a few weeks later when I noticed smoke and found I had too much pressure on the brake controller. That could have cost a bundle. Does the built in Forest River camera have a full time option or does it only come on when in reverse?

Three: a general question. we've been reading horror stories about excess moisture causing problems in stored for the winter RVs. I leave the bathroom vent open a 1/2 inch and haven't had any problems. I just moved further North and wonder if this is enough? I will not have electrical in storage. What do others do?

Four: read last night in FMCA mag about water line antifreeze leaving a bad taste in the spring, I never have had to use the stuff before, is this a problem?

1. Your new Forester should come with a mounted spare tire.
2.the rear view camera use to have an always on option on the 2016 RVS system I would imagine it is still an option on your unit.
3. I live in the north and unit is winterized from November to April and have never experienced heavy moisture inside the rig.
4. I have used rv antifreeze for years and I sanitize system when opening in spring and have never experienced a bad taste in water.
Congrats on your purchase I'm sure you will love your choice.

1. Yes there is a spare on the Forester. Not sure what the size is... But same as my Sunseeker. I'm not close to it now, so can't give a size.
2. My Sunseeker's rear camera stays on all the time, but doesn't show the whole toad. Installed a small camera and WiFi and installed a separate monitor just for the toad. Works great.
3. I usually have a main vent open about an inch and no problems with moisture.
4. I only use the onboard water for flushing, washing hands and washing dishes. So can't address the taste factor.

Hi Hailey,

On mine the tires are Michelin 225/75/16 and yes there is a spare.

The rear camera shows the front and hood of our toad. I do not know if that camera is an option. It looks like I could adjust it to show more of the toad if needed / wanted.

Welcome to the Forester clan and I hope you enjoy it !

The rear camera can be adjusted up a bit more if need be. I finally settled in years back to halfway up the windshield on my toad and I also can catch vehicles coming up from behind me on either side for a moment.

Never a moisture issue and I do not crack a window or vent. Haven't winterized in 10 years but never noticed any after taste of antifreeze the first two years I had my ROO.

We use damprid in the camper all the time when it is in storage. The damprid really pulls moisture out of the coach from camping. That moisture causes smells to last. Everyone who comes coach comments on how fresh it smells. We get a lot of water out and I change the damprid 3 times during the winter.

We love our Sunseeker and we keep the rear camera set to see cars and our JeepGC.
