I haven't looked lately but several years ago I went to eBay and bought a " new vehicle takeout" spare tire hoist from an f-150 for my 3010. About $80 at the time. I mounted mine with a shim so that the rear of the hoist was tilted down slightly. Otherwise the long crank didn't quite clear the rear bumper. A couple hours of aggravation to install but worth its weight in gold one time I needed the spare.

Their still running $60 to $80 bucks.
Or, for a really easy way to get it down, go to Harbor Freight and get one of their ATV Winch, $60 bucks or $48 bucks with a coupon. Fab up a simple cross bar for a mount, run a 12 volt wire and ground, and your set to go.

I believe it would depend on the weight rating on the holder and if the bumper could handle it. I'm not sure if moving the tire from where it's at would cause a weight distribution problem as well. That tire is very heavy.

Tire and wheel are too heavy.

It's a little pricey, but this might work, if it doesn't make your toad tow bar too long.

That would probably work for dcheatwood but not for me. Also consider what happens when you move about 90#’s back that far where it all becomes hitch weight.

My untra light fiver had the spare mounted on the cheap, thin bumper right beside the sticker that said mounting anything on the bumper may void warranty. The bumper on this Forester is much sturdier and thicker, with no warning sticker. So weight distribution would be my only concern. I think I'll do it and get it all weighed.
