Our 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Eco Diesel at 65 mph when pulling our 2014 Tracer 235 Air gets 14 mpg.

We just returned from a 1700 mile trip from W CO down to SE NM and back. TV is a 2007 Ford Exp. I kept it at about 60 the entire trip even on the sections of I-25 we ran on. Was quite pleased I got 10.5 mpg! We are lucky enough to pull over Red Mtn Pass in Southern CO and still kept it at 10.5...So I'm happy

Got my 2015 3051S in Ohio and live in Oregon so I got a good test of it on various roads and conditions bringing in home. Left the wife home to take care of the dogs and 10 puppies and went by myself. Came home by way of the Black Hills, Devil's tower, and Yellowstone.
So here is the breakdown by roads and conditions:

Lakeview OH to Ottawa IL All back roads and small towns through Elkhart (stopped at the factory) until Gary IN the toll roads First leg 370 miles MPG 8.22

Ottawa IL to Fort Dodge IA Freeways and thunderstorms 62 to 63 mph with cruise control on all the time Second leg 337 MPG 8.61

Fort Dodge IA to Plankton SD Freeway to Sioux City and then detour through Nebraska on the Outlaw Trial because freeway closed by flooding. Back roads from Sioux City to Plankton. 60 to 63 with cruise control on all the time. Third leg 322 MPG 8.85

Plankton SD to Hermosa SD Freeways wind, thuderstorms, rolling hills, and the first time I have ever encountered 15% Ethanol gas ( guess that is one way to get rid of all that GMO corn in South Dakota) Was trying to do 70 mph because speed limit is 75 and truckers were running over me. This is where I learned do not use cruise contriol all the time. It would shift down and go as high as 3500 RPMs so new strategy was come to a hill turn it off and keep the rpms to 2000 to 2500 and let the speed go where it wants. Some hills down to 45. Fourth leg 279 miles MPG 7.00

Hermosa SD to Gillette WY This was the Black Hills, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, Devil's Tower and so on. Hills, stop and go, and lots to look at. Fifth leg 264 MPG 9.09

Gillette Wy to Greybull Wy Bighorn mountains lots of hill and lots to look at. Speeds varied up to 60 Highest pass I went over was 9666 feet. No problem with power on hills just stayed between 200 and 2500 rpms. Sixth leg 200 miles MPG 9.11

Greybull WY to Rexberg ID This included all the way around Yellowstone Park max speed limit was 45. Hills a lot over 8000 feet. I drove the roads that are now closed in Yellowstone because the road is melted 160 to 165 degrees three weeks before they closed. Seventh leg 407 miles MPG 9.55 Also in Greybull the gas pump said high altitude gas.

Rexburg ID to Boise ID Good mostly flat roads 55 mph on cruise control. Gas was real no Ethanol said so right on pump and was $3.659 a gallon Eighth leg was 321 miles MPG 11.07 We need real gas back in this county Ethanol lowers gas mileage.

Boise ID to Damascus OR (home) Freeways some hills. 55 mph on cruise control retired last November so why hurry it does not make that much difference in total time and you get to see more. Final leg 429 milkes MPG 9.59

Total trip was 2930 miles with average MPG of 8.93

Bought from a great dealer with absolute great staff from sales to finance to techs showing me everything for hours, spend the night there in my RV and next morning more questions and training, Full tank of gas and propane included at no additional cost. free startup kit with high quality items (not the usual cheap things), best price I could find in the country, and warranty department has been absolutely wonderful. Working on getting the parts from at the time I inspected it on their lot and tow other items found while driving home. Alright got me a new refrigerator door for a dent (peel the protective plastic off during your inspection),they sent it to me and I put in on in about 15 minutes. Still waiting for them to get the replacement wood grain dash from the factory ( they are on back order) they made arrangements for a local camping world to change it for them. And waiting for the new dinette table because of poor quality.

All in all it was a great trip and 3051S did great on the whole trip.

nothing against all the posts about how much or little mpg people are getting on their MH's, in my opinion (after just completeing a 11 day trip around the great lakes) the fuel mileage is what it is , you drive until you reach 1/4 tank, pull into a gas station, fill up, swear! then continue on with the trip

With no passenger, no toad, empty tanks, 60 mph, got 10.0 mpg on I-20 from GA line thru Atlanta and I-85 to SC line! Included a few miles of stop and go getting past a stalled truck in the center lane.

Have never understood why people worry so much over gas milage? You have the vehicle you have to drive it so what difference does it make knowing ? Of course it may be a man thing...you all have always been obsessed with weights measurements and size

My C3500 7.4L (454) 32 foot Class C Fleetwood Tioga Arrow always averaged 10 MPG unlike my new 3051. The low MPG is something I must live with; I would love to pass just a few more gas stations in my travels, so if anyone finds an upgrade to help increase my MPG, please post your details so we all can learn from your success!

The best upgrade for gas mileage is air in the tires and an egg under the gas pedal. Seriously, just make sure your ducks are in a row maintenance wise. We had a 23 ft Thor and our 3011 and the gas mileage for moving the extra ton or so around was about 0.5 mpg. I got it back by backing off the pedal. You could probably drop some bucks on some engine upgrades but it wouldn't net much more than 1 MPG and you would need to see a 40+ HP / TQ change in one of these mobile boxes to actually feel a difference in your seat (not your head). I looked into a gear vendors unit like they use for drag cars and the gear spacing on the 5 speed is too close to make it work.

If there was some way to keep the engine in its peak power band and swap to direct injection that would probably make the biggest difference (think 8 spd+ automatic and a bigger version of an ecoboost or LT1 with less turbo) but if that swap ever became more than vaporware it would likely run north of 15K for the parts plus half again or more in installation cost. With those changes you might get close to some of the diesel guys numbers (3 mpg improvement) but you still would have a hard time beating them. That or you could save what little beans you have left over from pouring in the gas and trade up in five years to a used diesel. Let the diesel diehards take the initial depreciation hit so you can realize the savings you're looking for

Our 2014 3010DS on Alaska roads has been as high as 10.4 mpg on a lightly loaded trip on relatively flat roads running at 55 mph, but is more typically about 8.5 mpg when fully loaded, and running 65 mph on cruise control and holding the speed up the hills. We've averaged 8.4 mpg over the first 7500 miles, and feel that's pretty good given the size and weight of the vehicle and how well it drives.

We also live in Oregon and are planning a purchase of a 3050S Sunseeker from RVDirect in Des Moines, Iowa this winter. We have been given a price quote at least $15,000 less than the local dealer. Our question is...since you did basically the same thing, have you had any trouble getting warranty work done at a dealer here in Oregon? I've been told that can be a big problem when you don't buy from the local dealer.

I think my 3050 gets better mileage on back roads than it does on interstate hwy's but only checked on interstates 70 mph pulling 1.5 ton toad last was 7.6 still less than 5000 miles on rv
