3051S Slide Operation

I've had my 3051S for 6 months now and put 5000 miles and 35 to 40 nights in the RV with no real problems.

During the PDI the dealer told me to just push the slide out button until the slide was extended and the motor noise stopped. Same for retracting the slide.

But I've read other comments on here - one in the last day or two that there is more to it than that. The most recent comment was:

So, perhaps I'm missing something. I am usually worried about holding the in/out button too long and I'm careful to let go of it as soon as it seems "done."

Are there slide operation steps and instructions that I'm not aware of? If there are I'd sure like to know what they are. I'd say that slide problems are my number one fear of problems (and leveler's are number two) when setting up or breaking down.

I saw several videos from Lippert on operation, refining and maintenance of the slide out. The said to hold button 5-7 secs after it stops to make sure the motors stay in sync.

Only if you have the Schwintek-Lippert slideout system. It will have the "S-groove" track at the top and bottom of the slideout.

Thanks for that info. I don't think my Forester came with any Schwintek manuals, etc. I'm going to check that out.

There are a lot of Schwintek videos on youtube that one should watch. One of the most important is the troubleshooting one, link follows. The control box on my 3051 for the slide is under the stove at floor lever behind removable panel.
