A good report

We took delivery of our new 2016 2801QSF on 12/15 and 4 days later left on a 2000 mile, 9 day shakedown trip.

From my signature, you can see this is not my first rodeo lol, but this was one of the best first outs I have experienced.

I am not a "slow lane" driver and do the speed limit or more anywhere I can. Cruising at 65-75 wherever possible we never did less than 8+ MPG and never more than about 9.5 MPG. This is on a NEW motor and chassis (Ford).

Everything in the coach worked as it was designed to work with the possible exception of the OTA (over the air) TV antenna. I am not sure if it was designed to work as it does because it only will rotate through about 45 degrees and that isn't adequate for distant locations. Also, the use of a portable sat dish will only work if you bring the wire in a window (for now).

As far as handling and those "white knuckle" windy days, we had plenty of wind and plenty of storms and most times I was able to drive single handed with minimal "tail wagging". If I wasn't a gear head I probably wouldn't change the handling options beyond the alignment, but I am not one to leave well enough alone

Planned mods soon include:

Bilstein shocks and steering damper
Helwig sway bars front and rear
Front End alignment to FR specs
2000+ watt inverter with transfer switch
Auto gen start module

Bottom line:

I am more than pleased (as is my wife) with the initial quality, the PDI and the design. I think I received very good value for my $$$$$ an in no way sorry for the purchase.

Paul

Youroo, I never say never LOL. I have been known to slow down!

Actually, I know there are many opinions on safe speed, but in about 500,000 miles of RVing, I've not had any accidents nor any tickets (cops are VERY reluctant to stop RVs). But, I have seen MANY near accidents due to slow vehicles on interstates. If the speed limit is 70mph and you are 5 miles slower, the closing speed can be very dangerous for inexperienced drivers. Just look at the trucks in the 2 right lanes doing 5-10MPH below the limit and see the traffic backed up which causes squirlly drivers to do stupid things causing accidents. Just my opinion of course.

Besides, crossing most of Texas, the Dakotas or anywhere in the upper tier gets boring quickly That doesn't include the mountains encountered on those paths.
